And can’t coach players. Even though he’s on the sideline at all games.

NCAA needs to get a fricking handle on this shite

I agree with this. Analysts have no reason to be on the field during games. There is no way to fully monitor whether or not they’re coaching players so they don’t need to be there

Except at Alabama. When are people going to concede that they don’t operate under the same rules as other schools?

Y'all keep saying they can't recruit but I don't believe that is true.

They can't recruit OFF CAMPUS. For example, in the recruitment of John Emery, Kevin Faulk could talk to him all he wanted on campus, show him the Super Bowl rings, etc. But Faulk could not(or should not) be able to go to Emery's high school or house like the full time coaches can(Robinson, Ensminger, O, etc.)

You say this like we don’t have analysts on staff too
I know we have analysts. I also know there is a legitimate need for that position and the hiring of coaches for this position is a recent phenomenon started by Saban. He is doing this because there is no NCAA limit on how many analysts he can hire. I'm sure there are two or three that are really doing analytical work and the rest are all coaching behind the scenes. You can see by who is being hired into this job that the job has changed into some kind of coaching position.

Most are breaking down film and relaying stuff to the in field coaches.

Saban just retooled his whole staff and didn’t add Applewhite or Jones to it.

He doesn’t really need them coaching behind the scenes. He just likes having extra eyes.

100% analysts can recruit on campus.

We all saw analyst Butch Jones coaching players on Alabamas sideline during games even though it is against the rules. I wish that program would get the death penalty.

It’s wild that Alabama absolutely has an extra on field coach and no one seems to even care

As to Applewhite: he literally is probably most famous for taking a jacket from his best player so the players clearly love him.

Analysts do recruit on campus and on social media. Nothing against the rules.

I am one yhat had believed that analysts couldnt be on sidelines or coach but its clear they can. No way Saban allows Jones on the sideline, and to be caught on camera, during theoretically the highest viewed game of the season during the natiinal title game. Either there was a loophole or most of us dont know the rule. Saban isnt that stupid. If its entirely a secondary violation, which would be absolutely stupid, then no big deal. Those are nothing but checks on a chalkboard.

What do you mean by social media? Like sliding into recruits DMs?

Also it seems more like Saban is abusing the fact that no one really knows the rules because 99% of teams don’t have analysts to even put on the sideline. He’s very ahead of the curve but there doesn’t seem like any loophole where But b can have the kind of contact he has with players, and be on the sideline and still just be an analyst

He coaches with a Saban before. I don’t think he is a good coach. He is just from Baton Rouge. That’s the only thing about him that makes him worth thinking about. But he isn’t anything we are missing out on.

Don't forget Major Applewhite is a Baton Rouge native. He made the decision to go to Texas and became their starting QB. I was living in Austin during those years. He is a traitor in my book. Regardless his coaching history proves he a poor coach and an opportunits. Major will always be coach Apple-sauce to me!

yea, they've beaten us 8 in a row (the last 4 each by double digits), so they MUST be cheating.

Yea, that's got to be the reason.
