LSU loses their two top receivers, Jefferson to the NFL (and tearing it up!)and Chase opts out!

Meanwhile, Bama returns Devonta Smith, a Sr and Jalen Waddle, a Jr. Both could have chosen the NFL and would have been high draft picks! Both are fantastic and have blazing speed and great hands. The truth is no one can cover either of them.

On the other hand, no one could cover either Jefferson or Chase as well.

LSU's defense has been a huge disappointment so far this year! (Hopefully the coaches can fix the problems soon.)

Meanwhile Alabama's defense hasn't been so hot either. BUT the offense with Smith, Waddle and Najee Harris has been able to cover for the defense by outscoring the opposition. Bama #2, LSU unranked!

There are other factors separating the two teams, such as LSU's QB protection and an ineffective running game, but IHMO the loss of Jefferson and Chase has been a critical issue for the Tigers. Those two receivers could catch in traffic, get behind the defense, and hardly ever dropped a pass.

What are your thoughts?

Jefferson and Chase are no longer on the team. The season is 4 weeks in. This is our team. Who cares about anything else at this point.

Our roster is damn near just as close to Mississippi State's as Bama's according to 24/7 Sports

Waddle is a junior. He wasn’t eligible for last year’s draft.

Saban hires winners. Charlie Strong is on his staff in case Golding doesn’t work out.

Orgeron hires E, Linehan and Pelini.

I do tend to agree without their top 2 receivers, that Bama team is pretty average. If they lost 11 starters on defense in addition, they would look pretty horrible too I reckon. We need to suck less though so we can at least restock our talent for future seasons.

Hasn't Charlie Strong been fired from several jobs for not being a winner?

We don’t know; he’s never experienced anything like that. In 2019 he lost a bunch of linebackers and his defense sucked all year.

Go back and look at how Alabama plays in spring practice. We are sort of at that point. They don’t give meaningful playing time to Harvard OL transfers and true freshman OG that weighs 280lbs. They don’t have a FB running deep seam routes at TE. They don’t mass sub out their top skill position players when the game hasn’t been decided. They don’t bench D.Smith and J.Waddle for true freshmen WRs just to keep the WR room happy.

They don’t tolerate crappy effort or get their shite pushed in 4 straight plays from the 1yd line against inferior opponents.

We are ranked 76th out of 77 teams in Passing Yards Allowed.

The only thing that gives us a chance is that they're 70th out of 77 teams in Passing Yards Allowed

They have a veteran OLine. That's the biggest difference. If LSU could stock pile some OLine talent and depth, we could do that too
