How does it matter really? He’s getting $17 million to walk away. With all these staff members literally knowing they’re about to get let go, do you really think making someone on his staff an interim coach would really make that much of a difference?

Literally no one wanted the interim job and no one on staff could do it.

We were probably going to lose all but UM game anyway. if we can get to 6-6 huge win

Now you’ve fired him and agreed to a buyout. There’s not a lot of motivation for late nights to get this thing fixed. At least with an interim, you have a hungry coach trying to show he can handle the job.

Well, Orgeron already said he didn’t plan on coaching next season but who really knows. The USC job, which is his real dream job has an opening for head coach.

What I’m saying is that it’s in Ed’s best interest to finish this season as strong as possible b/c he’s going to probably want to continue coaching.

Bad for the program and it leaves a bigger mess for the next coach,

These are both completely false. The record we finish with this season is completely meaningless, the “mess” for the next coach is not the won/loss record or how we look in any game, that’s just fans being prisoners of the moment

Season was lost anyway. It doesn't really matter if we go 5-7 or 7-5 unless you care about the Weedeater Bowl.

I guess the extra practice could help for a bowl but we'll be running a different system next year anyway.

So anybody that disagrees with you is a dumbass. Two things I learned by reading your post. One you have no freaking idea what you are talking about. Number 2 you are a smart assistant. Congrads

You think O has anything of importance that doesn’t also involve O?

Yep

O had no leverage, but got his full buyout and allowed to finish the season.

That's a disaster. You fire a guy or you ride with a guy. You dont fire a guy, ever, give them everything they want and let them ride out a season they are contributing to the failure.

The goofball turned out to be just some other sout luzianne Cajun coonass from down on da bayou who injects the word gumbo and boudin into his interviews and we all cheer. He's never been a football scholar or intellect, strategist or innovator. The Mud Dog lifestyle is real.

That's not how people who are elite at what they do view things.

Woody got taken to the woodshed by Orgeron. Ed got everything he wanted and is allowed to finish the season.
