Yep. He’s the baseball equivalent of Jimbo Fisher.

Won a NC then faded pretty hard 4 years later.

Both underachieved when they should have dominated more often than not.

Both came from schools that wasn’t giving them the resources they wanted.

Both are going to ask for a paycheck they probably aren’t worth.

I’m pretty sure Corbin at Vandy is the only active head coach with more than 1 title.

I don’t know if that is an accurate statement. Maybe a better statement is that he only has 3 years of HC experiences so pump your brakes a bit. But his record shows improvement in the SEC each year which is what our administration is obviously looking at. And with Van Horn kicking our arse up there in Arky, you can bet if he does come to LSU, you won’t want to miss those series! Tony worked for Dave and it doesn’t seem like they are drinking buddies anymore! lol, lol, lol.

Statistics overview
Season Team Overall Conference Standing Postseason
Tennessee Volunteers (Southeastern Conference) (2018–present)

2018Tennessee 29–27 12–18 T–6th (East)

2019Tennessee 40–21 14–16 3rd (East) NCAA Regional

2020Tennessee 15–2 0–0 (East)
Season canceled due to COVID-19

2021Tennessee 42–14 20–10 1st (East)

And the year before Tony took over “2018” the Vols were 7/21 in SEC play!

So I don’t think your statement is accurate, just sayin.

Exactly my point. Anyone that complains about O’Sullivan only having 1 title is silly

Like I said, Sully is not my first choice, but to call him PM at this stage is ignorant.

Hmmm, I hear what you are saying but it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. O’Sullivan is one of the highest paid HC’s in the SEC along with Van Horn & Corbin. If you are going to pay that kind of bucks, it will take at least $1.5mil to pull away Kevin O so why would you do that when Corbin and Van Horn are better coaches. Probably will be extremely difficult to pull Van Horn from Arky but maybe not Corbin.

Either way Tony V is a steal at just shy of 1/2million with that number obviously going to be raised after this year.

Tony V is the guy, they should go get him because of his youth and his personality, he lit into Van Horn so I like the dudes tenacity and he isn’t afraid to stand up for his guys even if it is against one of the old guard.

I’d be ok with Sully. Not ecstatic, but not disappointed either. He’d definitely have us in Supers nearly every year with trips to Omaha pretty regularly also.

The reason he gets some meh reactions from people is because it seems like he should have more success than he’s had due to the amazing talent he’s had. That may not be fair since he has had a ton of success, but he’s recruited so well it’s really raised the expectations for him.

Do some research on the TCU and Arkansas teams that made it to Omaha......and now, 4 years later as a HC he wins the EAST over Vandy.....

Would be a monster mistake not to sew him up. If not Aggie will get him and it will forever change the WEST.

He’s that good

Van Horn is an Arky alum. He’s been there 19 year and he’s 60. He’s not leaving. Honestly, we shouldn’t want him anyway. In 19 years, he’s won 2 SEC titles including this year and has only been to Omaha 6 times at Arky.

People who think LSU has done less with more need to look at this fact. Arkansas should have won 3 of those. EASILY.

LSU fans need to accept the fact that they will not get anyone with a better resume than PM has. So I guess I’m saying any coaching change will be a risk hire.

I'd rather McDonald than Sully.
