He's young, energetic, and one hell of a recruiter. And a bonus is he can't stand DVH.

Dominant pitching wins games and championships. If we can’t count on PM to bring a couple in for 2022 then probably KO would be the best chance at getting them. He’s recruited quite a few. I still don’t see him leaving Florida for LSU though. Same for Vitello. Hiring other SEC HCs doesn’t happen much for obvious reasons.

Texas went through the same thing a few years back, it got Maineri the insane extension we are all b*tching about now.

Texas? I think it worked out ok for them, don't you?

It'll work out for us, too.

I read the Vol boards and they say Vitetello would make the move to LSU. He is young, energetic and a great recruiter.

Ranters complain Manieri doesn’t have enough titles.

I would 100% be thrilled with a Vitiello hire. But McDonnell would be such a home run hire in my opinion. He’s had an amazing, sustained level of success at Louisville and would absolutely kill it at LSU.

Plus, this:

“I’m beyond frustrated. I’m tired of it.”

I'm not saying it won't "work out" for LSU. I'm just saying I would expect to hear a lot of big names mentioned mostly for purposes of those coaches trying to get better deals at their current spot...not because they are actually interested in coming to LSU.

Following the 2016 season Maineri didn't really want to leave LSU. But he had the sads because LSU fans were pissed he just lost a HOME super regional to Costal Carolina and flamed out in the CWS in 2015 with arguably his best team at LSU. He was unsure if LSU was going to keep him long term. So he leveraged the Texas interest into forcing LSU to "prove" that they loved him.

In this situation LSU would be looking for a guy who has been very successful, but almost assuredly one whose fan base isn't nearly as demanding as LSU's.

Take off the P&G glasses for a moment and think which guy may have a greater situation:

A guy who will be paid very well. Has resources to win championships. And doesn't have to deal with fans wanting him run off at the drop of the hat?

Or guy who will be paid very well. Has resources to win championships. But has to deal with fans who expect CWS or bust?

LSU is a GREAT job. But is also one of the few in CBB that come with tremendous expectations.

A really good coach should welcome high expectations

Sully is Maineri 2.0. Or Maineri Zero Sugar. No thanks. Vitello is the dude.

Disagree Travis.

But I’d definitely be excited about Vitello

Disagreement is fine, long as it's civil. I don't hate Sully either, I just think Vitello has shown, from his time at TCU and Arkansas and now at Tennessee, that he can manage a roster and build a program. The only thing he hasn't done yet is win big, and they're on the doorstep now. This is the PERFECT time to make a move, before he blows up. If we get Vitello, he could be here 20 years, and who knows how much success with this fan base and program.

The Box would get that makeover it needs, thats for sure!

And if you can compete for championships AND get paid well at your current job why leave to go to place which would likely bring with it less job security because of those expectations?

I am down also. Another bonus is he and Van Horn apparently don't like each other. Could be a very interesting twist.
