What term do you prefer? Strongly dislike?

Why not? Calipari makes >$7 Mil I would say that compares to football

Wade is 28th highest paid coach in D-1 BB and Orgeron 39th In CFB

Is that how YOU invest in real estate? Wait til the property peaks? And THEN buy it?

Again... we already own the real estate.
Your investment metaphors are terrible

No one OWNS coaches. The are free to make the bargains of their choice. Money talks Bull shite walks.

LSU basketball won 10 games 2 years ago. They have a good chance of getting to the Sweet 16 this year. That's remarkable progress.
Getting to the tournament as an at-large bid is a significant milestone, for the record.

To a point, this is true, however, they are employed by the respective university. I would think they have a say with what they do, to a point, but ultimately it comes down to what the AD and the BOS agree on and how to "award" any said extension.
So Sammy isn't off base for saying, "let's see some consistent results before we approve any extension."
Granted neither Sammy, you,, nor I are in the approval process but we are fans and if the AD wants to keep the money flowing in on game days, he shouldn't be so quick to "approve" an extension. I have no ideas what the details of that is but it is something that Alleva should, and hopefully, has looked at every which way before deciding (although that is probably wishful thinking

Not surprising, coming from you. The same guy who tried to say burrow was better than Haskins using a 3 game stretch.

quote:Haskins had better stats? Of course. He was throwing to a WR room full of NFL caliber talent (that he had worked with for 2 years). Burrow would have lit up the numbers with those WRs too. And Haskins would have had the same problems with the LSU WRs.

Urban said many times that Burrow and Haskins were equal. I buy that. But I give a slight edge to Joe because he can run the ball, and is a better field general.
BTW, Both Mel Kiper and Walter Football have OSU WR Parris Campbell as the #1 WR in the '19 NFL draft.

Dude, give it up. Burrow is no where near the same caliber QB as Haskins. Is burrow good? Yes, and he's a tough SOB. However, you can't compare his arm talent and skilled with Haskins. There's a reason he left early and will be a 1sr round pick, when burrow is a Sr. and not being mentioned in drafts. And it has nothing to do with who they were throwing to.

quote:Meyer studied them both for years. He knows them better than keyboard football geniuses. And, Meyer had Burrow ahead of Haskins on the depth chart until Burrow broke his hand. Meyer says they're equal. Yes, I'll stick with Meyer's assessment.

has nothing to do with who they were throwing to.
And, Campbell is the #1 WR in the NFL draft by Mel Kiper and Walter football, but KJ Hill had more career receptions than Campbell at OSU. He's staying one more year. McLaurin and Dixon will also likely be drafted in'19.

He’s under contract.
We’ve invested in the property.
You’re metaphor sucks.
He’s being paid.
No one else is offering him.

By the time an actual "offer" is tendered, the agents and advisers have been negotiating for months, maybe longer. To think that there is no "interest" in Orgeron by ADs across the country is naive at best... pig-headed and stupid at worst.

There are tons of coaches that aren't being offered by other teams that get raises and extensions...just admit your logic sucks. It only applies to O b/c you don't want him as our coach.

They are coaches that could leave if they wanted. Orgeron would never leave LSU, because no school would pay him what LSU already is paying him.

Then it sounds like hes on the same page as any other top tier programs AD and not a bunch of brainwashed south Louisianians who expect championships from a Michigan man but think O is killing it after a 3 loss regular season and finishing 3rd in the west.

These threads highlight the stupidity of the average fan who knows shite about football and is still in love with the former coach.
It's a waste to argue with simpletons who think they know way more than they do.

Except for the part that all those AD's give raises and extensions even when no one is trying to steal their coach.

It's rather comical that they don't know how raises and extensions are the norm in the coaching business. The fact that they can't comprehend why it's done makes me feel sorry for them. Maybe they are just too young and naive to grasp how the world works...or just stupid
ETA: you can tell they are all young b/c they love to down vote posts...or just pussies
