Not true! You have to have the instincts and gifts to begin with. AT has them in recruiting and talent recognition. Those things you can’t teach.

I'm sure he is not the only one to have the ability to recognize talent. Maybe, but there are other teams out there that have pretty good players. Maybe they are just lucky.

AT will not be able to recruit off campus now that Pete J is retiring.

Coach Eaux was doing very good at recruiting before Austin Thomas and should continue to do so, with or without.

He was named the 2004 National Recruiter of the Year by The Sporting News and Rivals.com.
In 2011, he was named the Scout.com/FOXSports.com National Recruiter of the Year
In 2011, ESPNU/ESPN The Magazine named him the top recruiter in college football (and third best in all of collegiate athletics)"
In 2012, Sporting News selected him as the nation's No. 2 recruiter.
Rivals.com ranked him as the second-best recruiter of the previous 10 years (2002-11).

Hope this would lead to him back at LSU, but there has not been any other mention of his discontent at new position at Tennessee being reported that I am aware of other than what is on here. Is there any other information that supports this?

I never said CEO wasn’t a great recruiter, but CEO plus AT is better than CEO alone!

Are we that desperate?

I understand where you are coming from but for him he left for a seemingly better opportunity only to be brought back and have his role expanded.

I also can't fault the guy for wanting to go home. If that doesn't work out then you absolutely take him back.

It's all over Twitter and a Nashville radio station personality said AT would not be taking a position at UT.

I get you but im just saying if a lateral postion offers you more and your job is to do the same but for more money you stay? Youve asked for more and dont get and you see no promotion in future you still stay?
If he is best availble at his job you take him back. If he isnt the best you go after the best and take austin back only if you cant get. Atleast You know his talents

That’s fine, but nothing being reported by those who cover LSU and that is what I am waiting to hear and read from if and when this does happen.

Well it's not really an LSU story at this point. There's nothing even remotely authoritative suggesting he's coming back to LSU. Only that he won't be at Tennessee. I haven't seen anything about him coming back to LSU, other than he supposedly changed his Facebook profile pics last night from wearing UT gear to LSU gear.

Wrong. Look he is a recruiting machine behind the scenes and has been personally responsible for kids like Jacoby Stevens, Jacob Phillips among others. If he lands one of those a year he’s worth it imo. I think Lsu was very innovative with giving AT this position and he is a vital part of the staff.

I'm sure Saban will lock him down. So now he will Sam and Austin.....

Precisely. It never ceases to amaze me ... The amount of grown men acting like immature middle schoolers on this board on topics like these. I hope none of these sensitive types plan on running their own business.

To be fair, this is exactly how LSU wound up with Miles for another year and then hired O a year later—administrators letting their feelings get in the way of making business decisions.

Thomas is extremely talented, but let’s not forget he tried poaching (or is in the process of poaching) an OL recruit. Regardless of what the fans think, that won’t sit well with Orgeron or the other coaches on the staff.

Coaches on the staff would do the exact same thing if hey made a move another school.
