Coach Nader is, without a doubt, one of the finest humans I have ever been associated with. The man is an LSU legend.

Idiotic statement. I would argue he would have made a huge difference in offseason planning and recruiting this season with Covid. He is excellent at organizing and coordinating visits, camps and all other offseason activities.

"Thomas recently elicited interest from a number of programs with first-year head coaches, including multiple spots in the Southeastern Conference. He’s also been on the radar of a number of NFL teams in recent years after Thomas’ ability to help introduce the “general manager” role in college football with his blend of both front-office and football recruiting-office areas of expertise, tracing all the way to the University of Tennessee as an graduate student and also on staffs at the University of Southern California."

Yea what a useless scrub. Im sure anyone of us could have this written about us as well.

When he was at LSU everyone said he was a personnel genius. When he left everyone said he was overhyped and not worth it. Which one is it?

Sam has been a fixture in LSU football for many years, it will be strange not seeing his face around the ops center.

So he's a great secretary?

(Via Wikipedia):

LSU 24/7 Rankings since AT's 1st year @ LSU:

AT @ LSU - 2013 - 6
AT @ LSU - 2014 - 2
AT @ LSU - 2015 - 5
AT @ LSU - 2016 - 3
AT @ LSU - 2017 - 7
AT Not @ LSU - 2018 - 15
AT Not @ LSU - 2019 - 5

TAMU 24/7 Rankings since AT's 1st year @ TAMU:

AT @ TAMU - 2018 - 17
AT @ TAMU - 2019 - 4

Baylor's 24/7 Rankings since AT'2 1st year at Baylor:

AT @ BU - 2020 - 50

LSU's 24/7 Ranking without AT here @ LSU in 2020:

AT Not @ LSU - 2020 - 4

Does anyone think AT's the reason Baylor's 50th? Or is that Diamond Dave's dislike for recruiting? Obviously he makes a decent impact. But how much? Not sure.

Does anyone think AT's the reason TAMU went from 17th to 4th from 2018 to 2019? Or is that Jimbo finally getting his act together over that way? I think it's pretty obvious that Jimbo is a big recruiter and a coach who recruited bigtime at FSU beforehand, and then while at LSU and FSU as the HCIW before that. Now was AT's impact negligible? Doubtful. But was it that impactful? I doubt to the extent some may claim.

Now having said those things...does anyone think AT is the reason we did so well in recruiting at the end of the Miles/outset of the Orgeron Era in recruiting? It's obvious we somehow signed a litany of skill guys and even brought in transfers that helped us win a National Title without AT. Now does that mean he means nothing? Hell no, Jacoby Stevens is said to be here because of AT.

But is the end all/be all he was made out to be? Hardly.

If the guy was being considered for a GM spot in the NFL, he'd have made the jump long before now. The Texans gave a Team Chaplain/Character & Culture Coach a GM job. You don't think there's some sucker out there that wouldn't have given him an Assistant GM Role by now?

The guy's a good Administrator. But...The guy's had 7 jobs since 2013:

Tennessee
LSU
USC
LSU
TAMU
Baylor
LSU

He's been trying to hop around and bump that salary and build a resume...but I just don't know if I see him as everything that he's been made out to be.

Good hire? Absolutely. Happy to have him back. But some type of behind the scenes Svengali for LSU Football?

Hardly.

there was a time where the rant thought this dude was the reason we were able to recruit and was the revolutionary driving force behind the LSU “brand”

No idea. He is clearly valuable regardless of what the geniuses on Tigerdroppings seem to believe. Im sure hes good at hiring staff within the program and doing a lot of things inside a program fans never see or think about that has to be done.

Based on the numbers of schools he’s hopping around from after leaving LSU, he can’t be that valuable.

I mean clearly he’s good at his job with a limited role, but he’s not some prodigy or recruiting savant or some school would try to keep him

I'm not saying he isn't valuable, just asking someone to explain how. Everything that has been stated so far is something a competent student worker could do. The geniuses on TigerDroppings blindly defending him when they have no clue what he actually does are just as bad.
