I don't get why you have to be 100% for something or 100% against it with you people.

Give the man credit where it's due. I didn't like the hire. I still don't like it. The team is different now. I expect them to expand on their performance against Florida. I'm not saying they're gonna be 2011 LSU or 2001 Miami overnight.

I don't want to hear the excuses if they don't. The team showed that they have the talent to get it done. No excuses for O if they get their arse handed to them.

This is a completely different team than the one we saw the first five weeks.

In fairness, AU is a lot better now than they were week one too. Gus has a history of getting his teams to improve exponentially as the season goes on.

LSU had a capable defense last year, and gave up the fewest TDs in the nation.

This year's Tiger defense is simply an apology to LSU football. They could set a record for tackles missed.

They have talent, but half their starters are injured and the other half are inexperienced.

Oh wait, that's us . . . Well crap. :lol

It would have shown confidence in Etling and the offense to put the game out of reach

Ah, confidence in Etling. The dude has been struggling to push it downfield all game, but now is the time air it out.

LSU started trying to burn clock with 7 minutes left in a 1 point game

We threw a deep ball with 4 minutes left. Safety played deep, he was never open. Ball back to FL.

So yes, scoring a touchdown on LSU's final possession would give me more reason to say they are improving. They didn't though, did they?

more reason, but likely not enough reason.

quote:

Does that adequately answer your hypothetical?

Sure. Although I clearly said if we had broken a run. Not if we had thrown the ball a bunch of times trying to score.

Not really.

2014 - Started 7-1. Lost 4 of last 5.
2015 - Pretty bad throughout the season. Lost 2 of last 4.
2016 - Started 7-2. Lost 3 of last 4.

2013 is the only time it's happened and that was more luck than actual good play.

Did I say they needed to push it downfield?

One pass total in the last 3 drives. Well, you sure got me there.

You know this how, exactly?

Because what I said is that we should be slinging the ball all over the yard, right?

You don't get to have it both ways. If you are positive, you are a pumper, you love the coach, and the admin.

If you are negative, you are a realist, don't repeat the same tired shite across various coaching staffs and players, and simply will not settle for mediocrity. You know who the coach should be, and could have went out and got him.

What exactly are you saying in this scenario? If not throw the ball more? We threw on 3rd down when we had to

quote:

One pass total in the last 3 drives. Well, you sure got me there.

2 drives. And are you seriously suggesting that we should have thrown the ball on the last drive? So yes, one pass after crossing the 50, with less than 5 minutes left.

quote:

You know this how, exactly?

Because you literally said "more reason", and not "yes".

quote:

Because what I said is that we should be slinging the ball all over the yard, right?

What were you suggesting then?

You are trying to make this more complicated, for whatever reason I do not know.

I'm going to make it easy for you. I'm saying that throwing the ball 4 times in the 4th quarter in a 1 point game speaks volumes about what this staff is comfortable doing.

Make sense to you yet?

That doesn't tell the whole story, though.

Started 1-2

Went on a 6-game tear that included annihilations of Arky and Moo U

Had key players hurt against Ole Miss and Vandy

Limped to a finish with a decimated offense to end the season

Minus injuries, Auburn 2016 absolutely follows that pattern

So it's 50/50 on whether Gus' team finishes a season strong or turns to complete shite. That doesn't really help his point.

What does that have to do with the entire team improving, or putting on a better performance than they did the week prior? I saw better pursuit to the ball carrier. I saw designed plays executed the way they were intended, and beating the defense. With that, I saw a much more capable team on third down, extending drives.

you are the one that is arguing a completely different point than I was trying to make, there is no need to be a dick.

You gave the fricking hypothetical and I answered it. I'm sorry you don't like the answer.

You were trying to make a point about a team being disappointed in a win and used a game where Bama was up by multiple scores until :17 left in the game as an example.

Next time you can use an example that actually makes sense and I won't have to be a dick.
