I think Auburn fans would have stayed to watch Auburn. I didn't go to the first two games to see Vandy or ULL, I went to see LSU.
+1
Well said.
Too often we get wrapped up in who we are playing and how, depending on the opponent, it's not worth our time to go watch the game...and we forget about watching our own team (which has been a top 5 program for the last several years)...in Tiger Stadium, one of the most celebrated college venues in the country.

LSU fans are developing a problem. Personally, I think that people just want to sit at their tailgate and get drunk and they don't really care a whole lot about football
This. It's truly pathetic.

I noticed a lot of people streaming out at halftime of the ULL game. A lot of it has to do with the restrictions LSU puts on the fans.
IMO a lot of people feel they can have a better time outside the stadium than inside. They can go to their tailgate watch the game and drink, smoke, eat better/cheaper food etc.
I saw 2 people who just walked out because they couldn't smoke in the stadium so they said F it we will just go back to the tailgate.

Really? I was at the ULL game. People started streaming out in the 3d quarter. "Great" fans. Yeah, I know, it's a free country, I paid for the ticket, I have the right to leave when I want, blah blah blah. But PLEASE, no more of the "Death Valley," "Earthquake Game," etc ad nauseum.

Seriously, todays LSU fans are spoiled brats and they are there for themselve's and their booze. When things are going good, the vast majority are pro LSU. But, if it is rough, almost no matter the opponent, they slip out Tiger Stadium.
Just my take on this; "TAFF" controls who and where those tickets are bought, that is their main concern and this happened only since $aboni arrived a few short years ago. Where are these TAFF Snobs loyalty to their program?
Before they started their crap and I'm sure an organization that had good intentions in the beginning; those old LSU fans would stay through a monsoon, I did it and I'd do it again if the chance came my way.
These TAFF people are corporate maggots unlike the rest of this countries decent college football teams their fans stay through thick and thin. But this new LSU fan base is bailing out when games get tight or a little rough.
Their excuse is the level of competition? Our
old Tiger mystic has seemed to have lost its luster? This is easily seen when the games are on National TV, they are viewed by millions and the college football faithfull around the rest of the nation get to see this current fan base and their lack of loyalty; the real loyalty that should be displayed instead. I think their cloths are more important to them than their team and if so, dress appropriately. Stay and back the team and your Tigers; otherwise give your tickets to the students and the people that will stay (if you aren't too damn greedy to be so generous).
Don't use not having umbrellas as an excuse, there are other options for inclement weather conditions; use tem?

Then those people should have parties at their house, or go to a local bar. They shouldn't waste a good ticket. If these clowns (or their corporate bosses) weren't paying the high ticket prices and fees, just to go party outside of the stadium, then the simple law of demand would take over and seats could become affordable again to more Tiger fans that actually want to see the game.

it seems to me that if lsu is going to have legendary tailgating, game attendence is going to be affected. if lsu fans want game attendence to improve to nebraska like levels, then tailgating is going to suffer. i don't think it can be both ways.

quote:Liar. There is so much embellishment and exaggeration here on the Rant when it comes to the crowd (noise and attendance). You do realize that all of this is captured for evidence on video and in pictures, do you not? You can be easily disproven on all of this as you have been in this thread.
Then, I watch the LSU game and the stands are half empty by halftime
Watching the games on TV, the crowd was LOUD, I mean LOUD, at the Vandy game for at least 3 quarters. I remarked to others while watching the game how loud it was. Yes, it tailed off at the 4th quarter after it was clear we had a win, so did the attendance.
With the ULL game, you could see the crowd start to leave in the 4th quarter, NOT AT HALFTIME. It was a boring game against a boring opponent and LSU was clearly going to win.
STOP EXAGGERATING!

When did Tiger Fans become so full of shite?
When did Tiger Fans become so full of shite?

I'm not lying. The Vandy game was clearing out around halftime. They panned the crowd at the ULL game in the 3rd qtr and there were empty seats everywhere. Did you watch the game?
Okay, maybe it wasn't half empty. It's hard to tell when 90,000 drops to 45,000. But, there were LOTS of empty seats all over the stadium in the second half of both games. The announcers have been commenting for the last couple of years how quiet Tiger Stadium gets. Opposing coaches and players are saying its no big deal to play there because it is not that loud.
Everyone is drunk or bored or trying to beat traffic or wanting to go back to the tailgate. They spend the money and can do what they want. I can't go to games. I live a couple of states away and am not wealthy. I hope to arrange to take my sons to a game in the next couple of years to give them the experience I had as a kid.
But, it is looking pitiful on television.
I remember the Georgia game in 2003. We had a hungry fanbase. Now, not so much.
If Negatigers are using the Rant to call for the football team to step it up, why can't we use the Rant to call for the fans to put down the whiskey bottle for a bit and actually stick around and cheer for their team? It all goes together.

Wait and make a judgment on this for the FLA or Auburn Game, I guarantee you, you won't be saying this unless LSU gets blown out, which I don't think they will.

That's because they are used to standing around in the rain, with the cows in the pasture.

When LSU has a losing season and all hope is lost with a shitty coaching hire then the fanbase will be energized when a few games are won against mediocre teams.
I know I am envious.

1988. This is 2009. I agree with the OP that we should quit calling claiming ourselves as the most intimidating place to play. By the posters own words, this should work...
Welcome to Tiger Stadium, where we get loud for the big games against top 10 teams, and only if we are ahead on the scoreboard and not playing vanilla offense or soft zone defense.

I was at the Auburn game last year. I left with a new found respect for their stadium and fan base. Jordan Hare was louder from start to finish than any game I've ever been to in Death Valley. We get loud for periods, but that stadium was deafening the whole game through. I was envious. I hear the old timers talk about what Tiger Stadium used to be like. Wish I could have seen it.
I was at Jordan Hare last year. I was surprised how loud it was but, I'm sorry. Not even close to that caliber of a game here. To suggest so is just silly. This statment is objectively wrong.

quote:Then I guess the bigger question is: why did you go to begin with?
I would've left early against ULL. I'm about 3 1/2 hrs from Tiger Stadium, so unless it's a good game against a quality opponent, I try to skip out a few minutes early.
