That was one of the hardest hitting games I've ever witnessed.

Total screw job by the refs too.

I flew in from Abu Dhabi then drove to the game. Damn game, damn refs, and damn Miles for running up the gut all day long with hurt RB's when he had Russell and WR trio of Bowe, Doucet, and Davis

Oh to answer the OP question. Hell yes it was a catch and even the AU fans were smiling at the overturn. They also thought it was a catch except the brainless ones

David FKING Irons sodomizing LaFell before the half. Dude talked shite even when he wasn't involved. Played some rec ball against him after his NFL career ended. a-hole.

It was A bad officiated game. But LSU had many chances to win this game. The play-calling was horrible...

Ball wasn't catchable. The Peterson INT v bama was much much worse

Doesn't matter that the ball would eventually be tipped, you are only allowed to contact the reciever after the ball is tipped.
It was heading right for Doucet, and he was contacted before the ball was tipped, simple as that.

If there is a block in the back or holding away from a play is it not called regardless of if it affected the yardage gained?

Each of those calls were bad. What was atrocious was the non-call of the illegal chop block trying to (and successfully) take out Dorsey's knee. The C clearly had him engaged up high while #50 Ryan Pugh dove at the back of his knee (in a legal chop block, the defensive player cannot be engaged up high and the OL attacks the front of the thighs).

Pugh did the same exact thing to Philip Merling (Clemsux) in the Peach Bowl

Ten years later, the ball was still tipped. Thus PI cannot occur.

So the rest of the game was officiated correctly?

And 10 years later you still don't know the rules.

Did you not see where it was previously posted (with picture) that the ball was tipped after contact was made with the reciever?

You can't just form tackle receivers while the ball is in the air before a play is made. Even though this one was fairly close to the ball being tipped, it's still PI.

10 years and I my heart rate jumps whenever I think of that game. Worst officiated game ever. The fix was so damn obvious.

I remember the play you're talking about. By today's measure, I would not consider that a catch. He didn't complete the 'football move'.

The lafell and doucet no call PI's were the worst calls I've seen in my life. Lafell was worse because it was right in front of the line judge. At lease doucets, the officials had some kind of reason for their finall call...even if it was wrong.

Was at that game we the Zebras took that game from us. We also needed to pass the ball more which also would have helped our cause.

And of course that Hester caught that ball. Yes, it was a catch.

Of course it can...so long as the contact is before the ball is tipped, which is was.
