Does anyone have this throw on video? Or any other long throws. I remember another one shortly after they one quoted above? Also over thrown but not by as much.

JJ is the best QB on the team at this point. He went vertical on two long passes and missed badly on both. Why continue to do this, especially in a rain storm. Makes no sense, other than to satisfy the masses.

Wrong. In their winning drive it was the running game an quick hitters to McKinght that was the crux of their winning drive. You need to go back and look at the game again.

This my be silly speculation, but do you guys feel that there is any chance that Crowton is doing the following:

1.) Being fairly vanilla because even if it has been closer in these 2 games than we would have liked, we've been pretty safe with the ball in terms of giveaways. And we've have played well enough on offense to win both, no matter the criticism.

2.) Doesn't want to turn to that many big plays as to not give the better opponents we will face in the SEC film on such plays.

This may be dumb, but I'm just curious as to what you guys think.

I think we made a basket case out of JL last year by asking him to do too much generally and SPECIFICALLY throwing vertically and over the middle. He wasn't ready, got lots of picks and lost all confidence.(As an aside , some make matters worse by booing the kid).
JL, in fact, appears to be a better natural passer than JJ, and it may be Crowton wants to learn by last year's mistakes. I hope he's bringing JJ along much more cautiously, even if it drives the fans crazy who see the talents of Lafell, TT, Randle etc going to waste.

it was just the first two games and under less than ideal conditions for bringing along a very young QB. We are going to go vertical next week against ULL.

Go vertical...

You guys have got to start DVRing the games. WE did go vertical.

1st play, playaction, JJJ misses Bl.

JJJ did hit RJ Jackson on a long play.

He missed Mitchell in the endzone. He also was intercepted down the middle going to Dickson (who was held).

He threw to Tolliver in the endzone. Inc.
He threw to Deangelo Peterson long into the endzone. Inc.

On last drive of half, he threw long 3 of 7 plays. He completed long to Lafell in the middle.

All in all, we threw downfield about 8 or 9 times with limited success. Plus a sack when he couldn't go long.

How many 20-30 yard plus passes are enuf?
