But if you told me I could only go to one of the three, I would pick the Army game.

For what reason? The game isn’t at army. I could see that. But why pick army over the other two?

The interaction with opposing fans, the extra pageantry that will occur, seeing a D-1 school we haven't played in my lifetime. So yes, if I could only pick 1 of the 3 non-conference games to go to this year, it would be the Army game, hands down.

In 2015, I attended the Army West Point Vs Rice football game in Houston. With 24 seconds on the clock, the game was tied 31 all. Rice had driven down to the 12 yard line of Army, a pour down hit the stadium. One of my best friends was the OC for Rice. He called a pass play, I was behind the goalposts. The receiver ran to the end zone, the middle of the posts, pass, caught, game over.
My friend being the OC, I always had a bench pass on the field.

A little history on Army, the Head Coach is Jeff Monken, his cousin is Todd Monken. Todd was the OC at UGA from 2020 till last season. Todd left UGA for the NFL. He’s coaching with the Baltimore Ravens as the OC. Todd was at LSU for two years 2005-06, he left LSU went to coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

When did they stop running this? A small sample size of just their first 3 games last year they averaged throwing the ball 9 times and running the ball 59 times per game. You think they are just lining up and playing smash mouth football?

I know, but the poster above me said they no longer run the triple option. Yet, they are averaging running the ball more than 50 times per game. They are either running the option or Les Miles is consulting the OC.

If almost beating OU makes them legit? Ok.

Eh, that OU team made the CFP, and Kyler Murray won the Heisman. Army didn't lose another game the rest of the season and finished ranked, so yeah, they were legit, that year at least.

We’re gonna beat the brakes off of them.

Probably. But maybe not. That's why we play the games. Army is going to do whatever they can to shorten the game and minimize the number of possessions. An ugly, low-scoring game at halftime wouldn't be shocking.

You can carry on your bitchfest if you want though.

id really like to take the time off of work to go to this game.

I briefly met Jeff Monken in 2014 at West Point when he took over because I was doing a 3 month rotation for the cadet's summer training programs where i provided medical coverage as a medic.

I loved West Point and would love to go back.

No bitchfest, just spitting facts.

To your point, they did not beat OU that year and they will not beat us this year and they are not some powerhouse.

A team almost beating a playoff team doesn’t spell crap. You think they got the best OU team that day? nah, that’s why playing these teams are a lose-lose for us. They have everything to gain and nothing to lose.

Southendzone Tiger almost has me a tad interested in the game now; however, your input has not persuaded me of anything, podna.

Carry on.

An SI article reported they have moved to a shot gun set this year in 2023. No more flexbone. However, I’m sure there will be option elements included. It’s fair to say they aren’t running flexbone, but I’d highly doubt they are scrapping any and all option.

Yes, they will have to have misdirection involved. They just don't have the horses to run right at people. So maybe they won't be running the "triple option" by definition, but they will still be running misdirection running plays 40 or 50 times a game, in my opinion.

Until halftime when everyone leaves

Currently, there's no legitimate reason for staying an extra 15 minutes to watch TGBFTL half-time show. (I'm talking about those that leave at half-time every week)

15 minutes isn't going to make difference, but the current Tiger Band puts everybody to sleep.
