I’d be fine with that but I wouldn’t trade him unless we can get some seriously good return value.
Like I said his ceiling is an elite 5 tool player with 30/50 potential
The plan for him if we keep him imo should be pick up ozzies option for next season, then have him as the plan to take over for ozzie as our starting 2B after that.
He could also play LF when needed too and if Harris ever got injured would be someone on the roster actually capable of playing CF until he is back at a high level too

Olson seems like a good guy and I'm not saying we need to get rid of him but I've never been a fan of players with long swings,
This was my major concern with signing Olson to an 8 year deal once we traded for him (beyond the fact we could have just signed Freddie to 6 years and not spent prospects). Guys with swings like his don't tend to age well, so while I'm not saying we should trade him, with the right package it wouldn't be a terrible idea.

I just don’t see anything to gain by trading Olson unless we are going to commit to a full tear down and rebuild it all from the ground floor which doesn’t make sense imo for where are roster is right now. You’re not going to be able to get anywhere close to a player that can replicate his value especially at his price.
It makes way more sense for us to do a fairly major overhaul but not a total tear down. Sale wants to pitch at least two more seasons, we have two elite leverage arms in the pen with Didi and Suarez at least and imo Dodd could become one, Lee may or may not ever get back to his first year self this year.
We have Harris who is entering his prime and looks like is about to breakout into full on superstar level with a little more work at the plate discipline.
I’d 100% support trading Acuna and with his amount of control we could get a solid haul back in return and I think the idea I floated earlier piggy backing off VA to go after Elly and Hunter Green in a package would be huge. Taking Green would be a risk since he is currently injured but in 24 and 25 before he got hurt he was a sub 3 ERA starter both years good for 150 IP a year and averaged almost 10ks per 9 both seasons
If you could pull that trade off and somehow bring Mahle back as well a top 3 rotation arms of Sale Greene Mahle is elite
Green is also signed through 2028 on a 6/53 deal which is quite cheap with a team option for 2029. I think the Reds would be interested in doing this as well because they’re not going to pay Elly so they will need to trade him eventually and could get a massive haul from us right now. Maybe even one including Acuna. Either way we definitely have the prospect capital, draft assets, and now that we will be out of our punishment phase the international pool money to make a very attractive offer to them and finally get our franchise SS and an all star level starter if he returns to his prior level

Strider will never throw a pitch for Atl again imo.
Wentz who knows
Elder will be healthy but hopefully we upgrade enough to the place he is the 5th starter at best, or traded. He is under team control until 2030 which is crazy since he seems like he has been around for a long time so we might be able to actually get something of value back for him
Scwhelly is the total wild card. He could be in perpetual pitching injury hell and never come back or if he does be a shell of himself or he could recover and come back and be the dominant second ace we need.
Waldrep should’ve been traded before this season started
Lopez should be traded. We won’t get anything for him at all but that’s fine just find a team willing to take on his contract and do a salary dump for nothing in return
I would offer Martin Perez a 1/3.5 deal again which is identical to what he played under this season if he wanted to come back. If he declines it and wants to seek more money then so be it
Maybe this is a spicy take but imo we should give up on AJSS as a starter, he simply can’t go through a lineup multiple times. His stuff is still elite and electric especially in small burst though and could be turned into a high value pen arm imo. Someone will need to be the new closer. Not saying it should be him immediately but he could maybe eventually. Suarez likely is the closer next year
So a rotation of
Sale
Mahle
Greene
Schwelly
Waldrep
Is what I would aim for if it can be achieved

As for position players I would entertain what we have in profar and if he could actually play as starting LF next year since he is under contract anyway for another year. Harris is locked into CF. Again I’m in the trade Acuna camp then we figure out RF.
Riley we are stuck with at 3B. Make a trade for a top SS for our franchise SS into the deep future. I’d tender Dubon a deal to try to keep as a utility player but wouldn’t expect him to be here as another team will likely pay him to be their starting SS. Pick up Ozzie’s option and let him play one final season as starting 2B but Hartman is the future there. Olson is locked into 1B. Baldwin locked into Catcher/DH and id try to do the same thing with Murphy I suggest for Reynaldo, simply salary dump him if you can find a team to take him and accept nothing in return.
This will leave us with a ton of freed up money to spend in FA in contracts coming off the books like Kim, Iggy, etc. If we can’t make a trade for someone like Greene at SP like I suggested sign a secondary ace behind Chris Sale. I would love to retain Mahle but his injury history is scary and wouldn’t go more than a 2 year deal. If Dubon leaves we need to sign someone who can be a serviceable backup infielder to spell players and if needed replace Ozzie if he totally falls off. Very importantly we need to sign a player we should’ve gotten instead of Thomas at the trade deadline a power OF bar who hits 25-30 HR a year and also walks a lot. This could be gotten in return in an Acuna trade as well instead of FA. Sign a cheap backup catcher that can play defense well.
I’m looking at something like
Profar
Harris
Elly or the best SS we can possibly acquire through trade or FA
Olson
OF power bar I spoke of to play RF think (I’d target Ketel Marte him and Az hate each other and a new start could be good for him. He could also play 2B if Ozzie crashes out totally )
Baldwin
Riley
Ozzie
Dh/Catcher
This is just roughly what I’d aim for

He’s a horrible person but he’s a great baseball player
He desperately wants out of Az and they desperately want him gone. I think a change of scenery for him would rejuvenate his play and frankly our team is full of nice guys with no edge we need a guy who is a total a-hole
Only thing is his contract and how/if it could fit into our plans. This could be a player the Acuna trade is centered around with them Sending Marte back + a major league ready SP if we need one and/or 1 or 2 prospects.
They could send us Soroka back who was good last year in 120 innings or if wanted another high end reliever instead Juan Morillo was great and showed resilience appearing in 72 games
If the price is too high for Elly to stomach which is very possible my second call is to the Orioles for Gunner Henderson. Would require significantly less prospect capital and they clearly want to tear it all down but he isn’t near as good as Elly. Still we’d be buying low as he is coming off his worst season but is only 2 years removed from a 8.8 WAR season and also has team control through 2029
