Athlon must be basing Canada's ranking on total yards and not scoring efficiency. Our red zone offense under Canada was just bad.

frick Canada. Offense was inept in the red zone and wasn't exactly tearing it up between the 20s either. E may work, may not, but Canada wasn't a fit here.

I was in favor of the hire. Dissapointed in the results. We went from 70th in red zone efficiency in 2016 (poor) to 103rd in 2017 (horrible).

I just want to see competent red zone execution and we haven't seen that in years.

Well, let's hope LSU doesn't look like idiots the way Charlie Murphy looked at the end of that episode and Matt Canada isn't doing this...

At best, this shows O as an incompetent program CEO.

In isolation, that alone does not carry as much significance as you place on it. Can’t take one negative and say it shows incompetence, just as you can’t take one positive (recruiting commitments) and say it shows proficiency as HC. Only one thing does that— Wins and Losses.

Yeah, it's tough to take one decision and use it as a basis to make an overall conclusion. I think you have to take everything into account and if you're just using the time at LSU, I'm not sure there's enough data to make a complete judgement yet. As many have said, we will know a lot more for certain at the end of this coming season.

“co-offensive coordinator at maryland, seems like he was highly sought after”

Following in the footsteps of Gary Crowton who also went to Maryland after leaving LSU.

LINK

His offense at Maryland ended up averaging 379.7 yards/game in 2011.

Considering that Ensminger wasn’t getting OC offers anywhere else, this is not a good argument.

An offer is an offer, right?

Matt Canada promised a dynamic, inventive, unique offense and we did not get it last year. We got more of the same.

Except he’s never run that kind of offense before. It’s almost like someone else was actually calling the plays.....

Yup. I’m surprised that he didn’t have the team ranked in the top 20 of offense with a converted corner as the second receiver, the best offensive player hurt for half the season, and an offensive line anchored down on freshmen and first year starters.

You know that excuse only works for defending Orgeron. Come on...

Canada runs a gimmick offense.

Meh, it's no more gimmicky than any other offense that has evolved over the years. Boise State ran a lot of jet sweeps when they were becoming really good. Gary Danielson called it an inverted triple option.

Bielema didn't ask him to come with him when he left the Badgers for the Hogs.

I wouldn't put too much stock in that. Bielema bolted before the Rose Bowl and didn't bring everybody with him.

Bielema also doesn't have much of a reputation as a recruiter, so it made sense for him to assemble a staff who had recruited in the SEC and Texas.

Excuses already.

What's the excuse? Some things are just the reality of the situation. It's extremely likely that LSU will play better in a loss this year than they will in a game that they win. But people who don't look at it as anything more than black and white won't see it that way.
