14-0 next year with solid offensive line, receivers, and QB play.

This year is a development year with the outside shot as the miracle finish. Too many injuries, departures, youth, inexperience, etc.

My hope is to see progress in specific players through the rest of the season and destroy an upper tier bowl opponent to set the stage for next year.

I am a fan though not a player or coach who must have the 13-1 view right now.

All of you saying 13-1 need your head checked. This team isn't even the caliber of last year WITH JJ factored in.

I'm not saying that to be negative - we have a talented team, but I think some of y'all are bordering dangerously close to gumpdom on hyping this team. We have an injury roster that would knock most other teams out of bowl contention altogether, and even with those injured players in we're lacking the experience needed to produce at last years level every week.

For a realistic answer, 9-3 is a good season for THIS team.

13-1 would be an amazing job given the schedule and injuries we would have overcome. 12-1/12-2 or 11-2 would be a great job. 10-3 would be an alright job but disappointing. 9 wins and he didn't live up to his potential. 8 or less, and he is in the doghouse/on the hot.seat.

My homer expectations is Miami or bust.

Are you kidding? LSU would have to beat the New England Patriots by 100 points and then Les would need to cure cancer. And broker peace in the Middle East.

At this point, it is wishful thinking to believe the offense is going to find its groove. When has LSU's offense "found its groove" midseason? You have to go back quite a few years.

LSU has a tough schedule from here out.

i expect them to go 6-6.

Fans wont be happy with anything less than 10-2 (they can accept one more loss).

My prediction: fans are not going to be happy this year.

80-19 so far, he is running the program

But could LSU have won another BCS title in '06 or '11 with another coach? I believe it was very possible.

You expect LSU to finish the season losing 6 of their last 7 games?

@jonanthans

Thanks man.

To add a few thoughts: I think it is clear that Les is a very good coach. His record says so. But I also see him as a CEO (his salary says as much). A corporate CEO may be fantastic and have a long reputation of building strong companies, yet if a great CEO has a few bad years he still comes under pressure to turn it around quick or be fired. It doesn't mean he sucks now but conversely sometimes those decisions are made too quickly and cause a long trend of losses. I think the same holds true for big time college coaches.

His record of 80-19 works for me.

If you think LSU did that on pure talent and no coaching, then son, I am disappoint.

After watching the 80ies and 90ies of LSU football, I never thought in my wildest dreams I would see a time when LSU football would be 80-19, ranked #1, #2, #3, #5, #6, and #8, win the west 3 times, the SEC 2 times, go 12-0, 8-0 in a regular season, and play in 2 BCSCGs in a 5 yr period.

Wow, what a wonderful time to have been an LSU fan.

LSU has a horrible record for day games on CBS. It's their fault.

To go 13-1 last yr with the tomato cans he had at qb. He earned it last yr. If he goes 9-3, I wouldn't feel bad. He's had lots of injuries and there's nothing you can do about that.
