The default call if the ref is not in line to see an interception is to call it an incompletion?????

If the question was if he caught it in or out of bounds, yes. That goes for either catch along the sideline.

They may have recently changed that idea because of the wide use of replay, similar to how they tell refs to let the play continue if there's a question over a fumble, but it wasn't like that 10 years ago.

There is no good explanation for why it was missed on review.

Go pull out a 20 year old TV and that white line gets awfully fuzzy. And so does being able to see the exact point he catches it.

I don’t remember the year, but a home game the refs tried to give an LSU recovered fumble by Bama back to Bama. The replay guy played it over and over and the crowd was yelling for them to watch. We did finally get the ball, though.

That was 2000. Broke the long home losing streak against the Gumps. IIRC it was Bradie James who tapped on the referee's shoulder and pointed to the replay on the big screen. MVP of that game was the guy who kept playing it over and over again on the big screen. No replay back then.

The default call in that scenario is "incomplete".

Then the replay official should have gotten it right. His view was not blocked.

Either screened (like the ref in the backfield), or not looking at the ballcarrier.

He wasn't screened. He had a clear view of it. Investigate the SEC for Bama bias.

At literally no point could he see the hand on the facemask.

You have an excuse for every single thing huh?

Your head must be exploding having to defend all of this.

This theory is substantiated by evidence all throughout this thread. You obviously are choosing to ignore all of that.

CAn't recall the year. Critical 4th down play. Miles lines up the O-line. O-line never sets. Carnell Stewart suddenly shifts to his right, and Bama DL jumps offsides, makes contact. Play works perfectly. Miles used it because he reviewed game film of Saban using the same play earlier in the season. First down, right!? NO.

Ref throws flag for FALSE START! Incredulous, Stewart yells at ref and gets unsportsmanlike penalty.

LSU went from 1st & 10 to 4th & 20 with one crimson-stained penalty flag.

This is exactly why LSU has to be twice as good to ever beat Bama.

Bonus internet points to whoever can dig up a gif or video.

ETA: False Start Called after 4 Bama Players jump offsides.

You are fixated in the past sir, LSU has lost 7 in a row. Get over it and move forward, pointing out bad calls does nothing for LSU. LSU had a chance to win a few of them games despite your bama bias theory.

It would be one thing if half of the fricking pics and gifs here weren’t of other teams playing Bama. The bias toward one program holds the entire SEC back. This isn’t the Big 12, with one or two programs with money propping up a bunch of nobodies. This league has multiple big money power programs, and needs to grow up and leave that in the past, as you are fond of saying. Bama’s free ride needs to stop. They are good enough to win most of their games without any help.

This isn’t crying about losses. Rght now, people are actually talking about the favoritism Bama receives and paying attention. So frick off with your out of context alter bullshite.

The lines are always very clear on my 15 year old TV. I could see everything perfectly, and if I doubted myself, I'd just look at the huge gash in the grass where his foot dragged

Basically, what you're saying is the officials have never missed a call against Alabama. Every call that wasn't flagged was good, text book officiating.

Not at all. However, I do referee other sports. So if there's any big call, I try to see how the play happened from the referee's eyes.

frick off. Go apologize for the SEC’s incompetent officiating somewhere else. This wasn’t even 10 years ago, and HDTVs were easy to find by 09. If the richest league in college football doesn’t make use of state of the art tech, then that’s on them- end of story. “Fuzzy TVs” doesn’t excuse blowing the call on the field or off it.

So this was on my FB feed this am, from a guy I've known since '92. Not saying it's 100% true, but he's a little too level-headed to just pull this from his arse. So, fwiw...

ETA: welp, pass me the tinfoil, baw.

That's not what I'm saying at all. Just trying to point out that a missed/bad call can still be explained in a manner that doesn't suggest a bias.

InsecureU.

I mean, I don't know why they are so defensive... i wish LSU got this treatment. Every team does.
