They’re harder to stop in a random week than in a bowl game when you have months to prep for a triple option team.
It’s a harder turn around in a week.

The movement of the goalposts this season has been wild. Not super surprised with our fanbase, but still.
This was a 7-5, bottom of the division team in August and now it’s a 9-3 Fiesta Bowl disappointment. No, 9-3 isn’t the overall goal for the program, but it’s great for this year. Build on it.

They actually have 3 jobs. The 3rd job is provide free tailgate areas that are within the same zip code as the stadium.
wish we could add this to the job description

Well yeah we will still beat them.
But they may score more than their talent would sictate

Being that virtually EVERY so called expert (& probably you too) predicted LSU to be no better than 6-6 or maybe 7-5 I would say it is wise to show support for recruiting purposes if nothing else.
This is such a dumb fricking argument. Baked in the predictions by the experts was the fact that the HC wasn't respected, and a reasonable question as to the offense given his hire there.

Dude Oklahoma gives up points to EVERYBODY. It doesn't matter what offense their Defense faces. Lol.
Try again.
Try again.

Les went 8-5 in 2014 and 9-3 (while getting blown out three consecutive weekends to close the regular season),
Orgeron took a team with low expectations and went 9-3 against a difficult schedule.
Miles is gone and you should let his tenure rest in peace.
Yes but you said yourself, we had low expectations. I get Miles is gone, but he was fired for the exact same record Ed O was just praised for. Our program expectations have been lowered since O's hiring. At one point we were playing for championships, now we are being praised for going 9-3 after many expected us to go 6-6. Alleva is lowering our expectations.

It is not a dumb argument. What is dumb is people like you get upset at a coach getting an extension when it does not effect you in any way.
It is wise to grant an extension after far exceeding expectations. If you don't then other schools will certainly use it and tell recruits "Orgeron isn't gonna be there. Look how they didn't give him an extension after he had a good year. You don't even know who your coach will be if you go there".
If you don't think this would happen then you are naive.

Miles was in his 11th season in 2015 and he was not fired for going 9-3 he was fired for promising he would make changes and then starting the 2016 season he went 1-2 and did not make any changes.

2. Don't schedule a triple option football team.
Not a problem if you can stop it. Either you can or you can't. LSU hasn't struggled with the Triple Option in the past. I remember LSU beating the brakes off of Georgia Tech in 2008 when they were a top 15 team and we were unranked, coming in at 7-5.

Les Miles: went 9-3 with a terrible offense. FIRED Ed O: went 9-3 with a a terrible offense. EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS! A great year!
It does matter who the 9 wins were against and who the 3 losses were against. All 9-3 records are not equal.

Absolutely NOBODY and I mean NOBODY predicted LSU to be 9-3
I predicted 10-2 or 9-3.

Context is important
Is LSU 9-3 a surprise since vegas incorrectly thought Miami and Auburn would be good football teams? LSU lost two games they shouldn’t have and won one game they shouldn’t have
I thought 7-5 on the season with wins over Florida, Arkansas, Ole Miss, one of Miss st/A&M
Auburn, Miami, and Miss state completely missed expectations.

That is another argument alltogether. I know why the market has adopted this line of thinking.

It is wise to grant an extension after far exceeding expectations.
The crux of the argument lie in this statement. Whose expectations were exceeded? What expectations do you/should we have for the LSU program? At the root of these outside expectations, was some if not the majority based on the fact that they thought LSU had a deficient head coach and offensive scheme?
Hypothetical - replace Nick Saban with Ed Orgeron on Alabama and hold everything constant. What do you think expectations would be for them? If different than otherwise with Saban, then why?
