We lost to Kentucky and Arkansas in 2007 and still made the national championship game. We wouldn't make the game with 2 losses from any conference except the SEC.
The answer is to stay in the SEC and play up to our potential.
That would equal SEC titles every 2-3 years with corresponding chances at the national title.

Yes, Alabama is awesome. And so are we. We can't help that Saban has built a program over there, it is what it is, but we can only do our best, and our best is right on par with their best. Alabama and LSU are basically interchangable programs at this point.
This amazing run that LSU's program is on will not last forever. I can only hope for many of our fans' sake that they enjoy it while it lasts and quit not seeing the forrest for the trees.

I wouldn't...if the end goal is to play for SEC and National titles. Under the current system, and even after the new semi-playoff bullshite, winning really does matter. There is no room to be the NY Giants of college football and have an average year and win a Super Bowl by getting hot in the playoffs.
If the goal is to win titles, than having a schedule that best enables that ought to be the goal. That is not to say you schedule only shite teams...but clearly BAMA fans and media are able to sleep at night with their current schedule, so I'm willing to try it.
If, on the other hand, your main goal is to simply watching compelling football, than fine. So long as you also do not expect to win as many titles as your competition which is not playing as tough a schedule, I have no issue with this point of view.
If you expect the same level of success AND a tougher schedule, you're likely a masochist.

it may be off base but maybe our chicken shite athletic director should calm down some of the LSU fans concern with our standing in the SEC. it appears we are sucking hind tit, esp with the scheduling TWO FRIGGIN YEARS IN A ROW. ya know, the schedule that was supposed to be for one year only and it got extended another year and instead of compensating for bama's skating last year they made it even easier. where's the fairness in that? it looks like the sec is not a level playing field anymore whether you agree or not or even if it's true or not. just maybe our overpd AD needs to step up and represent LSU.
