As a season performance, how did Charles Turner finish the year overall?

There were alot of questions about him throughout the year and alot of panic when he took over the C spot.

Can anyone share his PFF scores on the year? How he finished the year overall? Truth is, he took the starting Center spot and never relinquished it. He’s never talked/complained about across message boards like he has been before each season he’s been at LSU.

Just the fact that you’re asking this question is your answer.

If O lineman aren’t standing out they’re probably doing their job.

100% agreed. I actually was going to add that to the OP when I posted it, but didn’t.

I know posters here have access to PFF and was curious of his grading.

Similar to the earlier thread about Josh Williams starting next season, I think we all respect the hell out of the job Turner did this season. He was a huge upgrade over the last two seasons and really stepped up at a position of need.

That said, I would still love to see us upgrade to someone as reliable as Turner who is also bigger and stronger. Having him as an experienced depth guy next year would be a luxury. However, if that doesn’t happen, I think we can win and the O Line can keep improving with him starting at C next season.

He was serviceable at best. He’s just too small. There were too many times that the pressure was right up the middle and that was with guard help.

If he were too small, wouldn’t he be having a miserable season and not be the starting C for LSU? He’s listed 6’4, 295

Are we just making a visual observation or we saying that his overall size limits his ability and he’s not very good?

If you can bring in a transfer portal upgrade at center you do it.

For Turner's lack of size he makes up for in effort. He is a very serviceable center.

They’re looking for a replacement in the portal.

Until we play against the big teams. UGA had him 3 yards behind the LOS all night.

This will depend on what the staff thinks of Martinez since he got a start against UAB and did well with snaps. They may see him as the future there and we have some bigger portal needs right now that will likely come before C.

I think CB, DL and an experienced TE would all be higher priorities right now, but C could fall right behind them if they don’t see Martinez as a starter or if he or Turner hit the portal to start elsewhere.

Easily my Most Improved Player.
Held his own vs future NFLers.
He's just not as strong as most across from him.
It appears anything over 295 would be stressing his frame or he'd already be heavier/stronger - he could have been eating shite like the rest of the guys during O but never got over 290.

I think we already have him in Martinez but with a portal guy you can have MM backing up all 3 IOLignment spots unless he proves he deserves to start.
I see Jones moving inside whether Bradford stays or not if we pull a Tackle.

He was serviceable and gave it his all out there. Would love to see us hit the portal for an upgrade tho. His natural size and strength just aren’t good enough to be great in the SEC. His natural size is more that of a big TE. Interior of our line was a big weak spot this season

Turner would be fine as a backup.

Too many times the starting guards (Fraser, Shorts, Dellinger and Bradford) finished plays with their backs to the line of scrimmage with their man on top of our QB. Guard play was sketchy this year, especially if any stunt was run by the opponent's defensive line.

He held his own, he didn’t get blown up as bad as last year’s center did. The guards didn’t help too much in pass protection.
