It’s not practice. It’s your 3rd base coach saying between every pitch to stay close to the bag and don’t get picked off in that situation. Especially to a freshman.

How dare you blame Cain. He hauled in the number one recruiting class. We can’t expect him to actually fricking coach.

Paul had a hunch. You can’t question him.

LSU baseball has to overcome coaching deficiencies too often.

It’s impossible to compare any coach to Skip, but LSU has to win in spite of coaching these days, instead of coaching elevating the team to the next level.

You really think that the player was told by the coach to get that for off base?

It was a terrible judgement by the player, not the coach.

No...
The coach should have told him to get back

That’s why the coach is three dammit feet away from the player.

Poor coaching over the season (player should be smarter) and poor coaching during the play

I agree.

That base running mistake is on the runner, not the coach. At this level and as a baserunner, you don't need the coach telling you how far to get off and when to come back. The only thing my 3rd base coach would tell me is if he wanted me to go on a ground ball hit in the infield, otherwise, we knew what we had to do, especially playing at the college level.

Dude...THERE IS LITERALLY A COACH STANDING 3 FEET AWAY FROM HIM WHO IS IN CHARGE OF BASERUNNING AT 3RD BASE.

That should never happen under any circumstance, but especially in the biggest moment of potentially your last game.

There is not a single reason anyone can excuse that.

ETA: I’m not excusing the kid, I can’t believe a D1 player got caught right there.

Are you saying the coach shouldn’t have to coach?

Marceaux should have never pitched beyond the second inning

At the very least, have someone warming. Like this is it....maybe have some sense of urgency as the head coach?

Coaching typically takes place at practice before any games are played. When you are out on the bases and it's loud, its hard to hear anyone yelling at you. I am saying that ultimately the base running mistake is on the player, not the coach. Now if they aren't coached up at practice, that's a different story.

After seeing Watson’s latest and mistake after mistake I say the coach should be all over them. In game, in practice, in the shower.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t be chastised for making poor decisions on the bases but the choice to attempt to take second was on Watson.
