I’m personally not a huge fan of players skipping the bowl games but this article puts it into a better perspective. Not sure if this has been posted.

Yeah figured I may have been late to the party. It definitely gives me a little better perspective. We as fans tend to forget that these players are people with problems like normal people.

nobody on this board would risk tens of millions of dollars for a useless bowl game if it were them. Anybody whining about this is just selfish and puts too much into football.

Where do you draw the line? Why play against A&M, since it really was meaningless?

Doesn't change my opinion that he's giving up on his team! I'm sure several kids on the team have similar situations or have things to play for, but not playing is not the choice. And enough with the meaningless game crap. It's not meaningless to a lot of people. If you wanna go there, all football is meaningless!

If we had snuck into the playoffs, would Greedy be playing? Is the chance to play for the national championship worth multi-millions of dollars? Players are going to start sitting out of the playoffs soon if the trend continues. If Greedy were to sit out of the playoffs, everyone defending him would be slamming him which would be hypocritical.

Maybe not tens of millions but a lot of us put our “normal” lives on hold to pick up a rifle and defend the right of all of us to express our opinion on this subject!!

No doubt. I don't doubt that he'd be playing if we were in the playoffs, but alas, we're not.

With this shite show offense, I got no problem with players skipping bowls that want to make money.

If LSU wants to treat this like a poorly run business opportunity, then why should the players risk millions for a meaningless bowl.

We have a severe leadership issue on our hands and it starts at the top.

These type of trends could lead to expanding the playoffs.

Chicken should change the name of the site to GreedySkippingTheBowl.com.

Once he's done with the NFL, Greedy will still have a lengthy career in all of your heads.

Even if we were in the playoffs, guys looking at first 3 rounds of the draft would probably take the game off. If us fans know we have no offense, you better believe the players do. The players know what we have talent wise and whether or not we are using it properly.

Put yourself in your early 20s. You got an emotional, irrational HC who is coaching scared and conservative, then gets pissed off and throws players under the bus after shitty play calling. Blames defense for not stepping up when they've been called to step up ALL year. On the other hand, you can see what first round DBs make in the NFL. I got no problem with this guy using his brain to make the smarter decision.

No matter what some want to try and believe, Bowl games are called exhibitions for a reason. Be sure some fans and media use them to try and judge a season or use a spring board for the next season, in reality they are meaningless on the big picture.

You may not like his decision and that is your right, but I don’t blame the kid. Bowl games don’t really help most players and while it’s a memory they can gain, the risk is not worth it, especially at certain positions.

Good luck to the kid.

Maybe he should have just sat out the last half of the season then?
