Gilbert never transferred anywhere. He's technically still counting against the 85. LSU doesn't need to free up any space for him to play in 2021.

This. In reading some of the backstories on Gilbert I ran across that he never enrolled anywhere else. I believe he is still in the portal but he can pull himself out at any time as I understand. Also a quote from another player transfer discussion it was pointed out that you can only be an initial counter once at a program.

Also I believe he has to do a lot of work this summer to get eligible.

If Gilbert still counts against the 85, then he's been on scholarship this entire time, since scholarship athletes are the only ones counted in the 85. So he's on scholarship after leaving school with a reported 1.0 GPA?

Everything about this whole situation seems very strange, and I wonder if we'll ever know all the facts. The grades thing doesn't make much sense.

He left on his own he is Tiger Bait now. The players now have a much better attitude than last year's team. LSU needs to move forward and Arik is a move backwards.

You have literally zero clue what kind of locker room guy he is. The coaches and team want him back.

People keep saying that once he left, our team got better. THat's just not the case. Has anyone thought that maybe the fact that we switched quarterbacks, opened up the offense, and put Baskerville in at LB has anything to do with the wins at the end of the season? I mean it's not rocket science.

I can't believe I have to say this, but LSU is better off with Arik Gilbert on the team than with him not on the team.

I'm all for Arik coming back if he's doing everything the right way to get his life straight. He's still young enough to where he can make a difference and hopefully inspire others with his story which is yet to unfold.

Robert Downey Jr. sure did!

Is that why you are not in the locker room as well?

Once you go into the transfer portal you are not on scholarship. He never enrolled anywhere so he just has to remove his name from the portal (which he has not done to my knowledge) and we need to have space on the 85 roster and he has to academically qualify. He would not count against the class.

Technically you are correct, but it wasn't for a lack of trying.

What has he done in the locker room that causes you to label him as a "cancer", that is, a dangerous, malignant presence?
And what is your personal knowledge of these locker room incidents?

Do whatever possible to get him eligible. He’ll instantly be the #2 receiving threat even if he returns with an Arden Key post-rehab conditioning.

I love when our fans tar and feather an 18-year-old trying to figure his life out who coincidentally looks like he was built out of a football lab.

Watch your mouth! I was a band nerd in HS and college, but I’m not criticizing anyone trying to get themselves right. I’m on board with having Arik back if the cards fall right.

I was 18 a long time ago and made plenty of mistakes. He is still young enough to get things together. I am pulling for him in life. Football is secondary.
