there have been several posters criticize your poll by having USC at #6...you have neglected their arguments...colin must have you pistol whipped on that one...seriously though, their defense is atrocious, and they still have a true freshman at QB

In the end, Big 10 and 12 winners/top teams will get their azz whipped by the SECCG winners for years to come. Top dog in those leagues can't cut bait in the SEC. Tell Iowa it is what it is.

Iowa would get their arse whipped by Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and possibly Ole Miss. Would be good game against Auburn, South Carolina, and Tennessee. With that said, they might get to the Indy Bowl in a SEC schedule.

I am sorry but you can't put georgia, ole piss in the arse whipping column.....they both suck! Auburn, tennessee, and usc would be a better game.

Maybe and a big maybe against teams like Florida, Alabama and LSU. but I don't think Iowa would get beat by the rest of the teams. I'm sure South Carolina wouldn't feel too confidant in playing Iowa again after they were pasted last year and down 31-0 with about 5 minutes left in the game. And that game could have been a lot worse than that.

I dont think Iowa would beat Florida or Bama, but they whipped South Carolina last year and beat LSU in 2004. Talent-wise, they dont have the NFL prospects, but they are still playing well enough to beat most SEC teams this year.

I'm not a Big10 fan, but those teams arent that bad. Plenty Big10 players go to the NFL and Big10 teams have won a bunch of games against the SEC in bowls.

What does 2004 have to do with now? We are discussing the polls for this season. Are you trying to say Iowa would beat LSU?

Obviously, this thread meandered beyond just this year.

I think LSU would win a close one right now.

But the point is, Iowa is not that bad of a program that we should assume it is automatically inferior to any SEC team.

They may be a good "program" but have a very overrated team THIS year

Florida
Bama
Texas
Boise
TCU
Oregon
LSU
among others would beat Iowa this year. I will pick Penn State to beat them. Iowa won't get a shot at the title game even if they finish undefeated because of what has happened in the Big 10 the last few years. If LSU were to run the table (if), that means they would have beaten the number 3 team in the country and the number 1 team in the country and would and should play whoever in Pasadena.

I love how you guys have Oregon ranked ahead of Boise St.

You're absolutely on the money there.

Already beat Penn St. at their house during a white-out.

How are they overrated? To this point they have won all of the games on their schedule, which is the goal of any team and something a lot of teams can't say at this point in time. When and if they lose they will drop like they should. But until then, they deserve to be where they are.

I will also add that Iowa didn't choose to be in this predicament. They are just trying to win the games on their schedule and win the Big 10. If that means they go 9-3 or 12-0 then so be it and let the chips fall where they may.

Good luck against Bama this weekend.

Indiana should have beat them, Arky st. ( I think) almost beat them, and I thought yall had trouble with another terrible team. Only "big" win is against an ok Penn St team.

The big thing in your argument is SHOULD. Last I heard football was played for 60 minutes and winning after 3 quarters doesn't count. We have had trouble with every team this year except Iowa St. I will agree. But the ultimate goal is to WIN. Just ask Herm Edwards. We are one of only two teams at this moment to beat 3 top 25 teams in Arizona, Penn St. on the road and Wisconsin on the road.

They were favored the first time too and were also favored when Iowa beat them last year when they were #3. So was Michigan St. and Wisconsin this year. I'm sure OSU will be favored when Iowa plays them in 2 weeks too.
