Just using logic, as a hitter at any level of baseball, would you approach an at bat differently with runners in scoring position? I wouldn't. I'm trying to square the ball up either way.

Now obviously I may approach it different if there is a runner at 3rd and less than 2 outs. But most of the time, I'm trying to do the samething up there that I'm usually trying to do.

You edited before I could say anything about 3rd with less than two. But you nailed it.

timely hitting is good and all, still doesnt mean chinea should be hitting cleanup over foster, sciv, or hale. you can bring up ONE stat that says maybe he should cleanup (which he's not even leading the team in that stat anymore) and there are several stats that say there are better people for the job.

A perfect example was Bregman last night in the 10th. Once he got 2 strikes on him he was just looking to put the ball in play to the right side.

My favorite at bat from the game last night.

I still have no idea how chinea doesn't have a homer

Because he inside outs everything. I think he has hit a few balls to the right side that would have hit him had he swung through them.

If he would be a little more patient, sit on some pitches on the inner half, and look to pull them it would make a big difference.

It is my opinion that one of the best hitters on the team is not even discussed on this board or in the paper. He is clutch and he is experienced.

Here is my question. If a player is on the field every game, how much lower would he hit if he were pulled in and out of the games like a yo-yo? For example, if Bregman were to hit .350 as an every day player, what would his average be if he were rotated in and out of the line-up, as a pinch hitter or a designated hitter?

I'm guessing you mean Sciambra?

Might be a bad one. Zardon?

Sciv? Who hits well no matter where he's put and moved around?

Tough to say. Some players have better numbers because they can excel in a specific, limited role and would drop off if they played every day.

This reminds me of the way Coach played Tyler Moore. I always felt like when Moore was getting into a groove, Coach would bench him for making a base running error or something.

Raph Rhymes told me that it raises your batting average a hundred points when you get to play every day. I believe that.

What we have is roughly 8 players moving in and out, depending on the situation. Every one of those batting averages would go up if given the opportunity to play every day.

That's not true. Krob played everyday and he couldn't crack .250.

Agree with the bump in average but not by 100 points.

I am not saying the +.100 thing is true, but this is not an argument against it. Under the premise, KRob would hit .150 if not a regular. Maybe we'll see.
