How many runs does Chinea produce? He's not driving in runs, he can't steal when he gets on, he can't score from first on a double, he doesn't bunt runners over.

What does he do to help us score runs?

He also hits lots and lots of ground balls and has zero speed.
I see DP's in his future.

Crunched some numbers. This is amount of walks we've drawn through the first 22 games of the season in recent years.

2015 72
2014 83
2013 113
2012 84
2011 82
2010 106
2009 138
2008 78
2007 76

Well check that out.
'09, '10, and '13 had way, way more walks than other years.
I know '10 seems out of place based on how that season turned out, but make no mistake, that was a good hitting team. Pitching took a nose dive that year.

Gotta give the coaches credit the last two days. Much better approaches overall at the plate.

We're pretty low on strike outs. Any time I see that I'm pretty happy.
Lots of hard balls put in play Thursday that just didn't fall in. Frustrating. These baws can hit tho.

Dude, he's tied for most strikeouts on the team, yet has the lowest slugging% of the starters.
Most strikeouts yet 0 home runs and only 2 doubles after 24 games?
Normally you let a few strikeouts slide if a guy is a big hitter, but I'm not convinced hes gonna hit one homer this year. Laird and Stevenson have both come closer than him.
And he's not exactly on pace to hit lots of doubles either. Just keep watching your BA with RISP and ignore his approach at the plate. The guy consistently swings at pitches WELL out of the strike zone.

I'll give him some credit, he puts balls in play that players shouldn't even think about swinging at.

No. I'd like to see how they do without him in the lineup. Seems like he would need a break soon, too. He swings at some just awful pitches.

Now think if a hitter with a better average was hitting in those RISP spots instead of Chinea.

He's dropped from .500 to .424 w/RISP since this guy started spewing the number as if it was the only thing that mattered. That's 2-9... and on those hits (both singles of course), no RBI. Go figure...

ETA: WTF? An anchor?

Most definitely. I really liked our approach against Killian today.
