re: Are you okay with PM's decision to start Chinea every single game?

There were a few articles saying any one of the original four could be our future Friday night starter. Not to mention he's a lefty who was in the low 90s with good control. You disagree?

Lange would have been a first rounder had he shown any interest in going pro. He is the cream of the crop. Just wanted to know what you had heard. Love your passion. Not trying to mix it up.

He's definitely proven that.
I'm a little overboard at times but it's more fun that way.

It keeps the conversation going. PM is an unconventional coach. He does things that no one understands. And, he is proud of it. If he wasn't, he would become conventional. Therefore, the Rant thrives on debating the decisions he makes. Look, he is reading this right now. I'm sure he has learned a thing or two from you guys!

I definitely don't agree with everything. But I've probably changed my lineup on here more than he has.
It doesn't surprise me at all if he's proud of that though.
Hey Paul! Chinea isn't your cleanup hitter.

Are you okay with Chinea still batting fourth?
No. I've lost sleep for a couple of nights now.
Who does he/she play for?

Hey Paul, take a lesson from Les and secure victory before you empty the bench. Don't start the games with the backups. It's sends the wrong message to the team. Then, you really look silly getting all flustered when they go through the motions. How do you expect the team to respond when the head coach doesn't take the opponent seriously?

This...times 3. But, he wins, most of the time doing this. LSU has a bench like very few in the country have. Most teams can't play with one hand tied behind their back. LSU can, and it does. If you don't realize this, just watch the in and out before the game. LSU is probably the best in the country doing this. So, it means that any combination of players can win...and usually does. However, every once in a while it catches up with us. My question is that when the big games come up, you can't play with one hand tied behind your back. And, you lose. It is great to play a lot of players, but inconsistency in playing time affects timing. Timing matters. By the time SEC begins, he should know who are is his players...and let them play.

He has a chance to get guys good minutes and rest some guys for a grueling conference run. We still won, and the team is probably happy that they won and some young guys that work hard got to play.

I can't agree more with your last two sentences.
I hate that we are in week 2 of SEC play and we have not just 1 but 3 infield positions up in the air. You know Hale will be one but who knows where he plays. I'm not saying there shouldn't be moves early. There has to be. But at some point you have to stick with it or realize what you tried just won't work. Where has KRob gone? Where has Bryce gone? Why does Byrd get benched after a really solid game? Why does Chinea continue to get time at first when it's obvious he's a liability even at a position where it's okay to have a liability?

Minutes? Like basketball minutes?
And a lot of them aren't happy. Pap was taken out. And he seemed pissed. Bryd was out too. Yeah, I'm sure they felt great about that.

Those are two guys that needed to stay in this game and get some quality minutes under pressure. They'll both be starting next year at important positions, gonna need them to be ready.

Like LSU vs UNC...

you're right, I'm sure they would rather not see the field at all

We were all wrong about one thing . "Gary" from the "coaches call-in shows" pronounces Chinea's name: "Chinese-Uh" (as in egg rolls & wonton).
Too bad Kendall "Beckworth" doesn't play on the baseball team.

Well he needs to do a little more on offense if he doesn't want to be pinch hit for late in games.

Don't get me wrong. I agree we had to do something. I was only responding to the "happiness" argument.
I understand that it's a midweek game where backups sometimes play, especially at catcher. But we havent stopped shuffling our infield. There has been no consistency outside of Bregman. It's just frustrating that PM is doing things like forcing Foster at 2B just to keep Chinea at DH. Or thinking that Chinea is suddenly going to be able to pick a ball after 3 years of proving he can't. Where was that leeway with Zardon at third? Or KRob at second? Both of whom could be doing much better at this point if they were given the innings.
