he needs to learn when to slide, for sure.

at least he'll progress in his play.

Compared to last year with Lee--more comfortable. But I will say that I am less comfortable today than I was Friday. I didn't think he looked very good throwing the ball. Not terrible certainly, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a bit disappointed.

I think a lot of that though can be attributed to the shite gameplan that didn't allow him to get into more of a rhythm.

It's not an excuse, but certainly relevant when talknig about QB play (which is the topic of this thread). It was an environment that will prepare JJ to play in the SEC on the road a lot more than playing McNeese in TS.

while I dont think the answer is LESS is certianly isnt much more.
JJ had a god forbid pick six dropped in 3rd series... before TT first td we had 67 yards of offense.
It was about 6 mins to go in the half.

JJ certianly didnt look like he has a better ability to throw the ball sat night than JL does.
I do like how JJ can run, however he is quick to do it at times... and a 4-5 yrd gain by leaving pocket early could potentially negate a 40 yrdr or better yet TD by staying in pocket tad loonger.

We are early in the season though.

Lastly JJ should prob learn to slide, or his qb days might be limited.

I am not comfy considering his experience level but he has earned the right to play. He will get better. The o-line needs to step up and help him out. Our offense will get better.

I will not be comfortable until I see JJ thowing the ball down the field. You have an all SEC reciever in Lafeel and the only throws to him were 10-12 yeard out. Even the 2 TDs were only 15 yearders witha good RAC by Toliver.

don't know if Crowton was keeping him under wraps or what.

If you really believe this you clearly don't understand football and it's no wonder there are so many idiotic posts on here on a daily basis.

it's not exactly HOW you throw the ball, as to it being WHERE you throw the ball.

most importantly, not to the other team.

i'm WAY more comfortable with our QB situation this year than last.

we had a harvard transfer and a redshirt frosh who had never taken ONE snap in a live game.

It looked for all the world like they simply didn't want to take any unnecessary risks. now...that COULD be because they know something about Jefferson we don;t and they don;t want to take chances with him because they know he can;t make the throws...or it could simply have been that they didn't want to risk huge mistakes on the road in his first start of the season and crush what little confidence the offense may feel having him under center after last year.

Until I hear otherwise, I'm leaning on the later.

Ambivalent at this moment. The kid HAS to learn to avoid shots when he's running. Additionally, I was appalled at his passing form. First, no touch - everything was a hard thrown ball. Luckily, Tolliver and LaFell have great hands, but eventually some of those are going to off the pads and into the air. Secondly, his throwing motion looks like a baseball pitchers - arm really goes down and back, fully extended with a looong throwing motion. Look to see quick SEC corners slapping the ball out of his hand on the drop back passes.
I will say, his athleticism is encouraging. QB coaching has to get him to a good form, but I see it a year in the making.
