10 & 11 are the question really and the other post was right, there are not many "good" windows to schedule someone tough but hopefully at least from a big 6 conf

I think White doesn't particularly care for LSU since his stint as Tulune AD... Not sure if it was a Joe Dean thing are just plain envy.

Didnt Texas Tech back out this year?

No. We wanted them to come to Baton Rouge but wanted the "return" trip to be in Dallas. Common sense tells you this is a shitty deal for Texas Tech, but somehow it gets played off as Texas Tech being scared of LSU.

It is obvious to me that LSU officials are trying.

It shouldn't be.

It was no secret that a deal between the athletic departments was in place. Everyone was on board and ready to move ahead, and Leach said no. Verge has said this multiple times over the last few months.

Ofcourse he did. Do you think he is stupid?

"Hey Mike, how about we go to LSU to open the season, possibly get our arse kicked, then wait a couple years and play them again on a neutral field?"

Yeah, Leach is clearly scared of LSU.

for recruiting reasons I don't think texas, texas tech, or texas A&M are interested in playing LSU atm. LSU was interested enough in playing in texas to play a home and away against TCU though

And for those that don't know I believe the 05 @ ASU game was considered a wash since LSU was away but considered the home team on the scoreboard (and the proceeds were supposed to have been donated for hurricane relief)... so the home away next decade is sorta separate from the 05 game

And there's no reason LSU can't do the minimum and schedule one bcs team hone/away series each year... with four out of conference games per year there is more money than LSU used to have with an 11 game, 3 out of conference game per year schedule...

Even if (god forbid) LSU actually played an "away" game vs Tulane and an away game against a real bcs team in the same year... that's still six home games per year... the same LSU had any year they played a road game with an 11 game season

i'm not saying lsu is always right in what they want when they schedule out of conference games but they try to work with other schools. to say they are selfish is bullshite. it takes two to tango. the sec schedule is so demanding it makes scheduling difficult because your conference is so grueling.

What is truth and what is an excuse? I'm sure they claim to work with other schools but do they (accurately) report the terms that were proposed? I think if Ohio State and USC can get together for a Home and Home, surely we can work something out with a lesser BCS opponent. We're at the point now where our biggest challenge comes from in-conference opponents while we tear even the greatest OOC teams to shreds, much like USC. It's a bit disappointing to me that the most exciting OOC game this year is probably going to be against a 1-AA school.

LSU is the only SEC school not playing an opponent from a BCS conference this year and has fewer BCS OOC opponents than every other team in the SEC over the next 5 seasons.

Is the SEC schedule grueling for LSU, and not for the rest of the SEC?

Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE advocate of LSU playing at least one mid-level BCS opponent EVERY season. We as fans deserve to have one "interesting" OOC game per season not to mention a decent OOC road trip every now and then (like Washington next season, I'm thrilled with that game on the schedule). I have even emailed Verge and the athletic department voicing this concern about having one mid-level BCS team on the schedule every year..

Nonetheless, App State is equal to OR more likely better than a mediocre BCS team. So even though LSU's OOC schedule this year has and will continue to take some criticism because it doesn't "look" good on paper, nonetheless the App State game is no walkover. Obviously, they are better than most BCS conference teams.
