I dont really want one either, but I dont think track record of others has any bearing on future success of Collins/Wojo.

I think Dawkins will do well at Stanford and Amaker doing good things now.

If it were 2 or 3 guys I'd agree but when it's like 6 guys who've failed on their own it gives me pause.

I like Scot Drew as well. What about Bryce Drew?

I like Scott drew but the expectations for him would be tourney in his first year. Unless he brings the recruits with him we are not a tourney team. There is no guarantee the recruits come.

Only if Scott says no first. Hopefully Scott has taught Bryce a few things about recruiting If you know what I mean.

Baylor would have to release Austin from his LOI though first

As a UNC fan hiring Matt Doherty would be a dead end IMO.

I don't think a Duke is the answer either, with the possible exception of Snyder as a fall-back plan with a very carefully written contract stipulating grounds for dismissal, but all the talk about K's assistants not being successful is overblown.

While it's true he hasn't had a stalwart by any means, and I guess Brey is the biggest star, the reality is most coaches eventually end up getting fired or leaving from their jobs at major programs. Take a look around the SEC or any other major conference and the coaches in charge 5 years ago are very different from the guys in charge now.

I'm trying to think of the entire coaching tree, and I know I am missing a few guys from the early years, but I think it is Brey, Bender, Bilas, Amaker, Snyder, Dawkins, David Henderson, and Capel (though never an assistant until this year), and then the current guys. Henderson is the only out and out failure, imo. You also have guys like Dement and O'Toole who were barely there and I don't really count. FWIW, I am less impressed with the current assistants than the previous guys.

I'd like to see if Mooney or Marshall would be willling to take over. I'd rather a top mid major to an assistant at a top program.

He was born in Baton Rouge when his dad was on Dale Brown's staff.

He's coached one year of decent Horizon league basketball. We could do a lot better.

Matt Doherty did a good job a Notre Dame. He actually did a damn good job at North Carolina until Felton/McCants and others didnt like how tough he was on them. He actually recruited the team that won the 2005 Championship. Little did Felton/McCants know that Roy was even harder on them than Matt was. I just think SMU was and will always be a crappy place to coach. A big name conference as the SEC would do him good. For god sakes do NOT get a Duke guy, besides Amacker up at Harvard, no Duke coach has been very good at GOOD schools (See Quinn Snyder at Missouri/Capel at Oklahoma).

He was there one year and they went to the NIT. Doherty's posted just 3 winning seasons in his last 9 as a HC. Also him leaving two places after his 1st year is a pretty shitty trait.

Doherty is my favorite UNC coach of all time. I wish Dick Baddour had signed him to a lifetime contract. That should tell you everything.

Here's another thing. Mike Dement is often listed as the shittiest member of K's coaching tree, despite being at Duke for one year. He is a bad coach. His record at SMU is significantly better than Doh's. Other than Isiah Thomas or a guy with a show clause, I can't think of a worse hire
