I agree, even the second year guys, Dugas, DiGiacomo and Bianco don't have a ton of at bats at the college level and that makes a difference. They will get better with time. If the bats improve and pitchers stay healthy, they can be damn good.

totally agree. the team is underperforming, but part of that is playing so many different lineups, the cold weather, and some guys getting their first look at this level. I don't think the team will suddenly become the 1927 Yankees, but I do think they will improve.

The big problem is that shortstop is going to be a problem even with the demotion of Hughes, and Alex Milazzo brings more behind the plate than at it. Cranford went 0-8 and Milazzo showed some pop, but this is about as good as he's likely to get. The problem though is that we should be getting more from 2B, LF, and DH.

Do you believe PM has sorted everything out now? I do not. It will be interesting to see what he does the next four games.

No but he will by SEC

8 games is not enough games to know what type of team they will be. It could be a sluggish start or this could be a team that just isn’t a very good hitting team. The talent is there to be a good hitting team but they just don’t have a lot of at bats.

2019
Avg. .273
OPS .768

ERA 4.64

2020 ERA 2.54 (obviously haven't faced strong competition yet)

So yeah there is work to do but plenty time to get it done.

The question I have is do we have the talent?
Right now you wouldn’t know it. Some guys need to step up and start competing better to get to “average”, and it’s a greater distance to good. More than five guys need to be competitive at the plate.
What is surprising is the failure of these four sophomores (Dugas, Bianco, Willis, and Gio ) to perform. They all played some last year and the had a whole year of college now. It’s their turn.
Last season Gio had 33 starts, Bianco 16 and Dugas 10. Willis had 11. Several of these guys aren’t rookies and we need them to step up, or we Will have to count on a bunch of freshmen.

LSU has been a weak hitting team crossing over multiple seasons. This isn’t new. Mainieri makes his Mainieri rally during the SEC tourney to either fall flat on their faces or have a good tight knit squad to make a run like they did in 2017.. they haven’t had a Purely dominant team in all phases since 2015.

Wilson Alexander Twitter

After eight different lineups in eight games, Paul Mainieri said LSU will use one this week, starting tomorrow against Louisiana Tech. He did not share it today.

"Let's see if we can win games with this lineup put together," Mainieri said.

Same ole PM...we will once again be disappointed at years end...another excuse
Last year we were preseason number one...we all know how that went
Keeping my tickets for the new coach

So you have nothing to say in regards to the OP? Why can't some of you manage to just talk baseball instead of constantly shitting on PM in every thread?

Back to the OP: This was always going to be an off year offensively with so many new faces, but we're only a week in. Plenty of time for improvement once the lineup becomes more steady

I have no faith in CPM ...there are way too many empty seats at a sold out stadium...
