How many of you live and die by the softball program.
But as an LSU Alum and LSU FANATIC since I was about 6, my "Competitive" nature hates losing and mediocrity in any LSU Sport.
I could care less about Women's College Softball in general, but I do care about LSU WCS!
They start out the 2024 season at 24-0 against the weaker "Sisters of the Poor" schools, then proceed to "Shite the Bed" in the SEC.
They win a weak Regional at home, then fail to score a single run in the final two games of the Super Regional Regional against Stanford.

If that's "Just Fine" and acceptable, (As all the Pump Nut Cheerleader MA Weak Freaks are saying) then by all means keep Torina in place.
Sorry, but that's not good enough for me. The program is stale and in need of fresh new blood at the Top.
With Oklahoma and Texas coming into the SEC, (

Scott Woodward has clearly shown that he will throw $$$Big Bucks$$$ to hire a proven Head Coach that can elevate the program (Mulkey, Kelly, Johnson) and it's now time to do that in Softball.
After the Women's College World Series is over, he needs to contact all the "Softball Mulkey's" and judge their interest in taking over LSU. With the Resources and Facilities we have, he should be able get anybody he wants that would be interested in a change of scenery for $$$Big Buck$$$.
I've always contacted the LSU Athletic Director every time I felt a change was needed (I'm not the only one) and in every case, the existing Head Coach was terminated. (Mike Archer, Curley Hallman, Gerry Dinardo, Les Miles, Ed Orgeron, Trent Johnson, Johnny Jones, Nikki Fargas) all got the "Fire their arse" letter.
I just sent that letter and email to Woodward in regards to Torina. I suggest everybody else do the same.
Of course, there's that stubborn bunch of Torina Sycophantic MA's that will be screaming, hollering and

Just Do It, Mr. Woodward, Just Do It!............

If the are, why the frick do you care? Why would that bother you?

I am not pleased with the outcome of the last several seasons and was very hopeful at the start of this one. To avoid a buyout, I would put feelers out for a new coach for when Torino’s contract ends next year unless she is willing to step down and stay on as a pitching coach.

No way Beth goes anywhere. AD Woodard knows what counts. Butts in seats Kids love playing for her

Is hiring a better coach not going to put butts seats?

There will always be some fans upset when a coach gets fire, just because they like said coach, but winning will bring those fans right back in.

Beth was one win away from Softball World Series...she probably bought herself another year or two. That being said, she will never win a Championship at LSU.

I do wish we could recruit some heavy bats. We seem to do good with pitching, but could use some punch. I would like more running if we could. But we had a decent year. just couldn't punch it out.

Frankly my biggest issue is Howard Dobson far and away. We have had some elite pitching over the years that always fell short to weak hitting.
We’ve never had elite pitching what world are you living in. The elite pitching that gave up 17 runs in two games this weekend to a sub par hitting elite team?? Now Stanford made the World Series on elite pitching and sub par hitting.
But I know why you want to sale what you’re selling is because Beth is supposed to be a pitching coach. STOP. Beth is an average coach at an invested top ten school and has NEVER been top ten.

Let's say you had a different coaching staff with this team for this season...Ex: A&M, Stanford, Duke, etc. Not OK or OK St coach.
Do you think they would of gotten out more from this team?
I would tend to say yes. I like Beth but she is a horrible 3B coach. She should give that up.
She tends to leave her pitchers in too long. Maybe not getting enough good arms.
I wish she would get away from the slappers....

I have a background in softball and have attended a number of LSU’s coaching clinics. Beth Torina has been incredibly receptive to the coaches in our state and region.
Her youth camps are well received. So what’s holding this program back?
We always seem to be a player or two away. Maybe it’s THE stud pitcher. Other years we don’t have the consistency at the plate that the very top teams do.
NIL could help although these athletes know there’s no high dollar pro league awaiting. They need the degree too.
Oklahoma joining the league will go a long way to defining what it will take to be a legitimate national title contender. No one does it better, year after year. What do they do better? Copy that.
Is there a coach out there capable of raising the team to the next tier? If so, could they be enticed to leave their current situation?
Torina is respected, and wouldn’t be out of work for long. But like Les Miles, if you have a certain level of success you can’t exceed it may be time to seriously go shopping.

I am emotionally invested in the LSU softball program. As an old paw paw whose daughter played 4 years of high school softball and 2 granddaughters who when they are done will both have played 4 years of HS Volleyball (and Red Storm club), I take it to heart when the LSU softball girls struggle on the field and get embarrassed in defeat. I also enjoy watching them when they have success and win games.
Just knowing that I will not be able to watch them in the World Series this week for the 7th year in a row is depressing. I will not be watching the WCWS this week or next week either.
I WILL BE BACK in February 2025 to watch my LSU girls again. I have no control over who the coach(es) will be, but if there are new one(s), so be it. I am for LSU.
In closing, I want to say that I really feel bad for Raelin Chaffin as to how her LSU career ended. Can you imagine how she must feel that her last collegiate pitch in LSU softball resulted in the end of LSU's hopes of going to Oklahoma City.

I am a fan and attend some games. Not a season ticket holder but follow the team closely. I have been saying that a change was needed for the past several years. Every year the team seems to hit a spell where they seem to lose focus and lose series that they should win. She has had to go on the road for super regionals because she can't get her team to play consistently in the conference. The offense is terrible when it matters. They get a periodic big win over a team like TN or Bama but rarely can win the series against these teams and lose series at home against bottom dwelling teams in the conference. At this time, t e smart thing is to let the contract expire and have her leave graciously for another position.
