I have complaints with Beth but I also don’t think she should be fired to this point. It’s just wise to let her contract run out and see if she can make a run next season. But in the last 7 years she hasn’t done anything to warrant some lifetime contract, and she even held us over the fire for a raise when auburn called. When you get a fat raise with no results you should be put on blast a bit.

you think anyone GAF about WBB or gymnastics?

Those are also sports capable of drawing 10K+ in attendance. The same revenue potential doesn’t exist for softball. Even in the case of gymnastics, DD Breaux coached for much longer than Torina without an NC and laid the foundation for the eventual breakthrough this year.

LSU has 16 sports programs. Of those, 9 of the other 15 are weaker than the softball program. Where is the uproar to fire the Volleyball, Soccer, Swimming, and Cross Country coaches?

incorrect. better go back and check your history on that. so nobodyhere has ever played in an elite tourney in any org? you realize their are elite teams in USSSA, NSA, triple crown and PGF right?

Louisiana does not produce a lot of softball talent.

we have a bunch of girls being pumped out to college. all you are thinking of is div 1 or only P5 div 1. only 7% of any girls nationwide play at ANY level, D1, D2, D3, NAIA or JUCO.

you cannot load up a team like on football.

o me, our softball team over-achieves every year.

incorrect again. we get tons of OOS talent.

We have a much lower ceiling in those sports . We also haven’t invested many millions in facilities and budget like we have softball.

If those programs had the resources softball did and was getting this poor of results yes people would want those coaches fired.

LSU track allocates all of its resources to sprints, middle distance, and field events so it’s always a given as to why we are so bad at cross country.

Tbh we have no reason to not expect more from softball :

incorrect. we have way more than that. you are way behind. lots of big national teams have expanded here for teams. cannot believe you left one off that has been in BR for ages.

i wont even waste my time to list the teams we have here playing CLASS A showcase/exposure in front of college coaches on a regular basis. They all do not have to play PGF. They key is getting exposed and recruited.

yes, i know the head coach of the TEXAS GLORY branch off here in LA.

Nope.

Kinda like with WBB and gymnastics, if the team is on tv in the postseason, I'll watch, but if they lose, it's easy to forget about it 5 minutes later.

For example, it's awesome that LSU made the move to get Mulkey and go on to win a title. Happy it happened, but if the program had Caldwell and stayed in mediocrity for the rest of my life, I wouldn't care in the slightest.

That’s good that we have teams that pay to play in showcase tournaments but if you don’t get an invite to the IDT, you ain’t elite.

I’m invested when they’re playing, I’m happy when they win, I look up scores when I’m not watching, I’m invested when they’re in the thick of the post season, but I’m not enraged enough to call for somebody’s head when I’m not invested or the seasons over.
To tell you the truth I’m invested in seeing who has the best trunk in those uni pants, I know it’s sounds twisted but I’m old and it passes the time.

not elite at what? org? individual team within org? individual players?

so that is the only players that play college or div 1? that play in that?LOLOL

so you are saying all the DIV 1 coaches that come to all the other major USSSA/PGF/NSA/triple crown, etc tourneys are trash? HFS dude. you could not be more wrong.

oh we have LA teams in that tourney also. where is the clown above who said we have no elite teams! lol. those are not the only real good teams here either. the best 18U team in state here is not even listed in that.
at least yet. they have played there in the past tho.

Swimming, Beach Volleyball, golf

Golf is successful. Swimming has a lot of Olympians. Beach Volleyball has two alums with a big chance to make the Olympic USA squad and make a run, but overall that program might be cut first IF it were to happen.

One can argue softball has done the least in the last 5+ years. It's not going to help when Texas and OU join.

It would probably make more sense to cut normal volleyball before the others. Ingrid and Latanna leaving after this year leaves a massive hole in the women's side, but men are usually more competitive. They've also won national titles, so it's doubtful they leave.

LSU could do away with every sport on the campus except baseball and I'd be fine with that !

Calm down, the discussion is about elite TEAMS, not elite players. Sure we have talent all over the state that will play some sort of college ball, maybe not elite. I know the 2 organizations from this state in the IDT very well. Let’s not get it twisted, any team can pay to play in a showcase but you need to be invited to the lower tier IDT and play your way into an invite to the big girl part. And most teams in tge IDT play PGF so…..not trash. USSSA/NSA, unless they’ve changed recently….not elite. If you think they are, I’ve got some oceanfront property in Arizona that I’d love to sell you.

I like watching LSU softball. Starting 24-0 this year and being ranked #1 for a couple of weeks was pretty special. Last year Beth had the #5 recruiting class in the country. For 2024 she has the #3 class. Players love her and rave about what a quality coach and person she is. She has the #1 dual player in the country coming in next year. A few of this year's freshmen actually played and contributed quite a bit on a senior dominated team. They will have a dynamite 1-2 punch at pitcher next season in Berzon and freshman Jayden Heavener. Definitely an upgrade over this season. This year was supposed to be THE year but their 3rd baseman and leadoff hitter Coffey (batting over .400) got hurt and was lost for the season. She set the table for Briggs, Newland, Pleasants etc...They moved Briggs to leadoff but it was not the same as having Coffey leadoff. Give this freshman class coming in a chance (they will have to play a lot because of losing so many seniors). Grab a couple of impact players from the portal and they should be very competitive next year. They were a top ten team pretty much all season. If next year doesn't produce similar or better results then go pay Tim Walton from Florida top dollar to take over if you want to get to the CWS every year.

Regardless of LSU sport, I’m all for replacing coaches who fail to consistently compete at the highest levels. To me, Beth is very much on the cusp. Consistently being nationally ranked and a win away from making the CWS is just not enough here.

Gymnastics made the leap.

My niece is a LSU softball recruit. Oklahoma, Tennessee, everyone is after her. I know all about it. Brother in-law had dinner at Beth’s house. She’s a legit top end recruit.

Anyway, she plays for a nationally ranked softball team in the SE. They play every elite tournament facing the best of the best every chance they can. They’ll travel anywhere to play a team as good as them, the rest of the time they play up. In 10 years they’ve never played against or seen a team from Louisiana or noticed a team from Louisiana in the tournament.

Does Louisiana have some fantastic players, sure, but the best teams, players, and softball organizations are out of state. There is a reason LSU has so few players from in-state. If you check other SEC rosters, you will also not find players from my beloved Louisiana. I’m taking with facts you’re talking with emotions.

Started out 24-0. Won only 2 of 8 SEC series, while losing to the two worst programs in the league. No regular season or tournament championships in 14 years and hasn't been to the WCWS since 2017. Has had teams with both elite pitching and great hitting in the past, but still couldn't get it done. Same issues year after year with bats going ice cold at the worst possible times. Players seem to regress under her staff.

Yeah, I'd say we could use a change. I'm not saying fire her now. I'm advocating not renewing her contract in 2026 unless she gets back to OKC in the next two seasons.
