The game last waaaay too long. 4.5 hours in most cases. It's really noticeable in person when you are sitting there waiting and nothing is happening due to TV timeouts

It's game length...and what's more pathetic is that announcers in the Texas-Cal game we're discussing 12 minute quarters. It's a damn shame that someone would consider lessening the time of a game in order to ensure that the commercials are still running.
Add me to the group that thinks it is silly to go through all of the 'trouble' of doing it up on Gameday only to leave early. If I'm going to dedicate that many hours to a tailgate and game, I'm damn sure not leaving after 3 quarters.
