If I was Coach O, I would strongly suggest to Aranda that we go back to the 4-3 or at least the 4-2-5

This really doesn't matter anymore, as most teams rarely actually stay in base defense, and even if they do, it's literally just one guy standing up.

Rutgers program does not warrant the salary that LSU programs pays. I don't think Aranda would take a cut in pay for that job but it would not be more than what he is making now.

Ash was scheduled to make $2.3 million during this current contract year, which ends on Feb. 28, 2020, plus a combined $7.5 million in the three years remaining on his contract after this current year. He has scheduled compensation figures of $2.4 million, $2.5 million and $2.6 million in the final three years on the deal.

People need to do some research before they post. Rutgers was paying Ash what DA makes. If they really want to improve, and think Aranda is the guy, they can afford to pay him more than he makes here.

Why would Aranda be a good Head Coach?

Who you gonna hire that’s better? Give me names. Come on, dipshit. You talk a big game then when called out, you got nothing. Let’s see what you got. Who is LSU going to hire that is statistically better against the level of competition we face?

He can’t because if he’d be brave enough to post the numbers his entire argument would collapse. Going into this season Aranda was the best DC in the country over his career as a DC. Better than even the great Brett Venables who all the Aranda haters gush over. I don’t know if he’s still ahead of him in every major category available but prior to the 2019 season Aranda was the best in the country. This narrative started last season and the night of the championship game when Clemson beat Bama it went into overdrive so a few people posted the comparisons and Aranda was ahead of Venables in PPG allowed and YPG allowed.

Rutgers might not be same terrible job

Recruiting ground isn't terrible just lots of competition.

You are in the big ten

Facilities are like not big ten level though

I pointed out several times the games where Venables gave up tremendous yardage and points to teams far below Clemson’s talent level.

They expect him to shut out everyone we play and that’s just not gonna happen. Even when Bama had great defenses, they were not shutting teams out EXCEPT the ones who were running old school smash mouth football like LSU. Nobody runs that anymore. We were the last team in the SEC that did. You can’t shut out pass heavy offenses unless you are just vastly more talented than they are. Eventually they are going to hit that long throw or start going underneath with quick slants.

I don’t want to lose Aranda—he’s great (and has crazily become underrated on here). However, I prefer a 4-3 3 to a 3-4 and think our DL recruiting would get significantly better.

Word to the wise ! Not every coach is a "Head Coach". Being a head coach is a 180 degree polar opposite of being a coordinator or position coach. One does not necessarily translate to the other.

Nothing to see here. Aranda wouldnt take a job in exile. He wants to win to move up in the ranks. He would rather win at LSU and get a Power 5 job and be handsomely paid, rather than toil at Rutgers, hope to win through years of building up the program to get 2-3 key wins against Top-Mid tier Power 5 programs. Then he would get low-balled by the school that would hire him and probably make a few hundred thousand more than what he's making now. Nope. His plan is to win at LSU and then get the Head Coaching spot here or another SEC school or a prestigious Power 5 school... He's not considering Rutgers. He's just trying to figure how his D can defend a full game with an offense that scores in 2 minutes...

Aranda has been selected to be the scape goat by a portion of the Rant base. This started last season and it has very little to do with productivity. Injuries, some very questionable (head coaching) decisions vs Texas and a lack of talent up front has led to some sub par play in a couple games which has in turn led to the anti-Aranda crew gaining momentum from being joined by the panic crew. Anyone who wants this guy replaced doesn’t have a clue what they’re talking about.

Why would anyone make a good HC? You don't really know until the guy gets a shot.

But his career path, coordinating at a high level in major programs, is the one that most reliably leads to a solid HC career.

So they pay him 40% more than he is making now... Is that number high enough for him to take a stab at it?
