Coach O obviously isnt an in-game coach. Aranda is a defensive minded genius. would we be better off with Coach Dave rather than Coach O? as far as recruiting goes O isn't getting it done because he can't win and Aranda might have been able to pick some recruiting tips up from Miles and O. If we are so willing to keep Aranda long term we are going to have to make him head coach or be willing to let him walk.

You joke, but we said the same thing about O replacing Miles.

Aranda would get my vote. It's going to be painful when he leaves LSU.

we need to hire the best HC prospect in the country. I have no reason to include Aranda as a prospect for that position, despite his admitted genius as a defensive x's and O's. Perhaps others know more about his ability to coach coaches, recruit, organize, speak on behalf of the program, etc.
HC requires a lot more skills than that required of a coordinator. .

Over O?

In a millisecond.

Probably over most anyone else. But would still like to see a search.

well LSU lost out on the 2 best prospects in 2016. Aranda is currently on salary, with a huge buyout, and associate HC title.

You trust Alleva to go outside of Baton Rouge and make a splash hire?

Give me Aranda, a young defensive mastermind. Let him hire his own people and let's ride.

Well, that's a unique prospective never discussed here before.

who would you reasonably suggest we hire. reasonably meaning no one at a big school head coaching currently. small school head coaches big school coordinators or people dropping down from the NFL would be reasonable.

pretty sure LSU's last 2 of 3 HCs were at big schools. Oklahoma State and Michigan State, to be exact.

We will not get the best candidate at a "reasonable" price.
I get it that Aranda is a great DC.
However, to elevate him to HC for that reason alone is stupid. If you want someone to hire HC based on the best name in the building, without conducting a real search, why not just let Alleva work his magic again!

although A&M just did it

Matt Campbell at Iowa State is the next great college HC if he finds the right gig, IMO. I doubt Alleva evens knows who he is. It would take some actual research and time away from the golf course.

LSU fires Orgeron, hires Aranda, LSU looses a couple games and all over the rant will "why did Alleva fire Orgeron and hire an another assistant from the Miles staff".

Effectively, Alleva can’t fire Orgeron. He is tied to him.

Unfortunately that’s the predicament we are in right now, and needing to make enough noise to oust Alleva so that we can get an objective, competent AD in place to decide what to do with O.

Please tell me what makes you all think Aranda would be such a good coach? I would love to hear the reason truly because this keeps being brought up time after time.

Arranda is an upgrade but this isn’t a first time coach gig (or at least it wasn’t). I’d support an Arranda promotion but I think we need to set our sights higher. Give me Harbaugh from Michigan or someone like that.
