Unless Aranda is really just interested in becoming a HC, it's hard to imagine either of those schools would be willing to pay more than what LSU pays Aranda. Bobo was the highest paid HC in the league at $1.8 mill and (according to reports) CSU is going to owe him $5.5 mill in a buyout. That's a huge commitment for a non-power program
UNLV paid their last coach $600k. Are they willing to QUADRUPLE that amount to match LSU? I very much doubt it. Then you have to think about how much money would be left over to hire a staff and for other expenses if you are paying your HC north of $2 million? So Aranda gets paid a lot and will have very little left over to put together a good staff.

What if Aranda doesn’t like being a DC for a team with the type of offense we are running?

You have to let him walk, no way you increase the 2.5M, that’s absurd.

These are both very good jobs.
UNLV has two winning seasons in the last 25 years
LSU has four assistants that make as much or more than their recently fired coach

scott roussel seemed skeptical about this. He said aranda is very comfortable in his current position.

Jim Leonhard should be up there. He's like Aranda, but better.
He sure his good.... For a young guy his defenses at Wisconsin are excellent.

How many of us with ride the LSU job as long as we could? I know I would.
He will take on a ton more responsibilities, time from his family, and general stress. For what? Less money at a small school? Kiffin is around $4 million. I can't imagine a school offering Aranda that with zero HC experience.
To each his own though.

As far as distractions? The whole season has been something of a distraction. It's just an Asst Coach.

Someone posted on the Coaching Changes board a couple of weeks ago that UNLV were willing to stretch a salary to $900k. Unless Aranda just really wants to be a HC, Vegas doesn't seem like a realistic option for him.
You could argue the new Raiders stadium will help the program, but it's always been a tough place to win. I think John Robinson only managed to get them to one bowl, and their only era of moderate success was back in the 70s.

I wish this wouldn’t come out before our biggest game in years and in the heat of recruiting.....shite

It does suck but it always happens to teams with success. You kinda have to expect it.

One thing we do know is O is committed to bringing in the best person he can.

I would imagine Bill Busch would get the job if Aranda left.
Then hire Jimmy Burrow as safeties coach?

Right. And I think CSU is the only one of these openings that could cause a distraction, but they just tried the up-and-coming coordinator route with Bobo, and are supposedly looking at Butch Jones now, so who knows how hard they really try to go after Aranda.

Every year he's rumored to go to somewhere. Brady will be the next one
Posted on 12/10/19 at 3:53 pm to NolaTiger52
Before the season, from the outside looking in, it looked like he was basically the head coach in waiting at LSU. Now that Orgeron has the team in the playoffs undefeated, CEO isn't going anywhere.
Posted on 12/10/19 at 3:54 pm to NolaTiger52
He's being looked at by a bunch more schools than that. He's a stud.
Posted on 12/10/19 at 3:55 pm to NolaTiger52
I wouldn’t be upset if Dave left after the season, especially if we win the NC.
He’s kind of maxed out here.
The DC at Utah would be first on my list

Hope he doesn't leave. But if he does, can we get Bo Pelini back as a DC? His defenses were pretty good -- except he doesn't like to blitz.
no they were not !
1st year yes...after that everyone figured him out and he did not have a comeback..
ask Nebraska

Not trusting Dellenger one bit until someone still local acknowledges it.
