not that I agree, but I don't think it's just because of his name.

Exactly. He had/has character issues and that should be considered when determining whether his name is forever seen as a LSU great.

I vote no. (not that I have a vote but yea...)

Yay.

Although it's strange to me that that would bring us up to 6 LSU basketball players whose jerseys or numbers are retired but we only have 2 football players with that honor. Tittle, Taylor, Faulk, Bert Jones, why don't they have that honor?

YAY! One of the greatest talents to ever don the purple and gold. He still holds the NCAA record for PPG for a freshman, and I doubt it will ever be touched. This should have happened some time ago.

eta: I also agree that Sylvia Fowles belongs up there too.

imo, the legit reason to vote nay is that he didnt graduate from LSU (im not certain if he ever came back and did. I cant find that he did so anywhere.)

He was the honeybadger of basketball in that he was always doing amazing things and was gone far too early from here.

I have thought about that happening since they retired Macklin's jersey. Jackson had 2 seasons that each are far
better than any other player's best one season. Times have changed dramatically and if we stay with current rules towards retirement of jersey, we will would probably never retire another men's basketball player's jersey since if they rise to the level of play to have their jersey retired, they would only be here 1 or 2 years at most.

I agree that Sylvia Fowles jersey should be retired, she had a great 4 career with many honors.

He is the best pure shooter I have seen until Steph Curry came along. I remember his 1st great game. I believe it was against Florida on the road on a Saturday night. We had dinner reservations somewhere but we were late because we could not take our eyes off the television. We just sat there in amazement. We thought we were watching the next Pistol Pete.

Loyola-Marymount game

This was an unbelievable game all around but to me the LSU vs Ole Miss game where CJ scored 55 pts and Glass (Ole Miss) put up 53 was probably the best dual of two CBB players in one game ever seen! Simply Amazing. I would assume someone could find it on YouTube and watch if you want to check it out for yourself.

What character issues does he have? He isn't the same religion as you. He didn't pay obeisance to the flag when he should have before a few games (well after his LSU career, BTW).

Every time someone mentions Chris Jackson on this board, it flares up with these moronic posts about how he's sort of good, sort of bad. If you ask me, his willingness to do just a tiny little bit to stand up for what he believes in shows how much character he has. He has just a little more balls than assholes who can only make their opinions known behind the anonymity of a keyboard.

He is the second greatest player in LSU basketball history. His jersey absolutely and positively should be retired, if retiring jerseys is about honoring the all-time great players in a particular sport.

Leave your bullshite uninformed opinions about his character at the door.
