Pulmonary threw Hilliard for absolutely no reason and got the kid hurt. In keeping with his penchant for throwing players under the bus

Ive been Following LSU baseball since before skip arrived at LSU. Skip had his share of pitchers with injuries. We just didnt get as much information back then as we do now with the internet. I think that these players now are used a little too much with travel ball and its unfortunate.

I so badly want to see this team get healthy and live up to it's potential. I have waited a very long time to see LSU assemble a truly top to bottom deep pitching staff. Every time I think we might have it, it doesn't pan out. I REALLY thought this staff was going to be head and shoulders better than anything we've seen here.

Then they all seemed to slip on banana peels at the same time and get hurt. I'm tired of running into these endless pitching staffs in the postseason and trying to match them with Johnny wholestaff (equipped with no less than 6 guys who only throw strikes on accident), after the first two starters have pitched. I want LSU to BE one of those staffs.

Well if Hilliard and Labas are healthy, and if Gilbert and Walker return to form after their surgeries, than no one should be over pitched this year, or pitching on short rest. We’ll have enough arms.

He is talking about pitching him without adequate rest, not pitch counts.

He had a weeks rest all season between starts until the SECT. So I don’t really care what he’s talking about. He’s wrong either way

That's the hope. So many guys missed the fall, or parts of the fall with "soreness" or some kind of strain. Normally I would just chalk it up to the coaches being overly cautious, but with our recent history of top arms getting injured, I'm a little uneasy.

But yeah, if they can get at least most of these guys back, the staff should be loaded.

Nick Storz is starting to sound like the Jake Latz story.

Guess we need soft pitchers.
The school of Nolan says they need to throw and that is not a killer number.

Storz should be a DH in the future

Unless you like strikeouts.

At last coaches committee meeting PM indicated Storz is going to miss most of the season, he did not comment on Labas, and he was confident Hilliard will be ready to go when they report back for preseason practice.
Cole Henry was the other one that also had resumed throwing and he was confident he would be ready as well.
Gilbert and Beck were also going to be ready for when they report back.

It’s getting to where kids should get Tommy John surgery before getting to college.

A lot of these injuries are because of how much they are throwing in youth leagues through high school. Travel ball weekend tournaments where you play 5 games in two and a half days.

High school seasons go right into summer seasons as well.

All of the injuries in the last 3-4 years has me wondering about whether the pitching coach is messing with their mechanics and causing problems. Not saying that's it, it's just alarming to me how many have had issues lately. Some of it I will attribute to travel teams (overuse of their arms at a young age). And yes, they pitched Hilliard too much at the end, you could see him hitting a wall a game or 2 before they pitched him on short rest.
