My brother and our spouses are planning on going. Fly to Chicago and spend a week up there. Harley Davidson will be one of our stops!

How far out can you book the golf packages at Whistling Straits and Erin Hills?

I called Kohler a few weeks ago and they said to check back around January as the package prices aren't set until the beginning of the year. I haven't looked into Erin Hills yet.

Train stops to pick up/drop passengers about 20 times between N.O. and Chicago. Also, it seems certain "freight" trains have precedence over Amtrack passenger trains, adding sometimes undetermined delays.
Even with all that, IF you're porperly stocked and prepared for the ride, it can be an enjoyable alternative !

I wanted to go to this game, but UT and VT are playing at Birstol that day.

We are going to that game. My wife is a UT grad.

Flying up a few days early to play Whistling Straits in Sheboygan, WI than driving to Green Bay.

It might be the best 4 days of my life if we win.

Planning on taking the train from Hammond to Chicago, renting a car and driving up to GB for the game. We're going to be well-stocked for the train ride so it won't be so bad.

Tell me more about this train ride. Is it easy to sleep? Is there a baggage limit? I am bringing a bag and golf clubs. You are alluding to being able to bring booze... so you can bring an ice chest? Is there wifi?
