re: Anyone else warming up to the idea of keeping the two divisions in the SEC?

With two divisions, it will take 16 years to play every team from the East at home and away. With pods, it will take four years.

I don’t want to lose the annual Auburn game. That would suck. It’s my favorite game of the year.
Oh, and frick Florida.

Pods. Play everybody w/i every two years, home, & home w/i four years.
What do you prefer? To play everybody every two years in a pod system with no way to do an SEC Championship, or would you rather keep the same two divisions where LSU would be the top-dog in the SEC West every year? Your call.

2 divisions is the worst choice that could be made
Did your mother drop you on your head are something? Keeping the two divisions not only makes the most sense geographically, but with Auburn and Alabama moving to the SEC East, Saban would instantly make UGA and Florida his bitches.
Which would leave LSU to step into the top-dog roll in the SEC West. Meanwhile, because the best of the best recruits wants to play for the top-dog, then LSU would inevitably end up with the bulk of them because no one can out recruit Ed O in the SEC West.
Furthermore, LSU would still play Alabama every year, but on a neutral field for the SEC title.
Then when the new expanded College Football Playoffs begin the not too distant future, LSU and Bama would be in it every year.
Damn son, wake up and smell the damn coffee. Are you that narrow-minded?

and LSU would have an easier path to the championship game by playing Texas and Oklahoma instead of Bama and Auburn.
i don’t want easier.
I want to play and beat Bama and fricking Auburn.

Sankey is probably being advised on wether to go pods or divisions depending on what this thread says.
So lets get it right baws
Im thinking move the gumps and auburn to the east and play 9 or 10 conference games a year.
12 team playoff is obviously inevitable..SEC teams that lose 2 games will 100% be in the playoff

If Bama says no to that. What u gonna do ???

Nope, absolutely not. Also, we should stop calling them "pods". They can still be divisions, we would just have four of them instead of two.
How? The current setup has us playing Florida every year while Alabama gets an extra cupcake game against Tennessee. With four divisions, and us paired with the MS teams plus A&m or Arkansas, we would still be the top dog and would not be stuck playing Bama and Florida every year. And, yes, I do enjoy those games, but if we are talking about the best path for LSU to win more championships, the four division setup is an improvement over what we have currently, and we get to play everyone in the conference on a fairly regular basis. It took a hurricane for us to finally play at Mizzou after 10 years of them in the conference, that only gets worse with more teams in two divisions.

I love it.
There’s no need to play Alabama and Florida any more, until we get to the SEC Championship.

I don't know why you guys can't use a little common sense and figure out that if OU and Texas are moved into the SEC West and Alabama and Auburn are moved into the SEC East, which geographically makes the most sense. Then that means LSU will become the new top dog of the SEC West. While Alabama will make UGA and Florida their bitches in the SEC East.
Moreover, the best of the best recruits wants to play for the top dog and because no one in the SEC West can compete Ed O in recruiting, then LSU will get the greater bulk of those elite recruits.
Meanwhile, LSU and Alabama will still play every year, but on a neutral field for the SEC Championship.
Then when the new expanded 12 team College Football Playoffs begin in the not too distant future, both LSU and Alabama will inevitably be in it every year.
It's not rocket science. It's common sense. The Pod system, which can't work in any event since there is no way to do a conference championship, sucks to high heaven.

I much prefer to win the SEC West every year than I care about playing every team in the SEC every couple of years.

Pods, please. That way we would play every team NOT in our pod twice every four years. Top 2 SEC records play in the SECCG.

Easier is not better. Bama and Auburn are the two most worthy LSU opponents every season. Leave well enough alone.

So many people just don’t get that Texas is fixing to roll…LSU is not going to dominate Texas the way that so many seem to think.

Hell No
We already play East teams (sans UF) once a decade.
Pods and we are back to playing all teams every 4 years

Someone needs to work on math. If you move Bama and Auburn East, and put Texas and OU in the West, you still have to move another team from East to West for 8 team divisions.

Here is my idea…
Go with the pods to create 4 sub divisions, 2 East and 2 West
For conference championship play, the last regular season game will be a week of playoffs for the leading top teams of each subdivision. Winners play for an East and West Championship. All schools would have a TBA game that week to accommodate this game. As far as the non championship competing schools that week, they would play another team they have not played against that season in another pod. Home team is decided by record.
Championship Week is East vs West Champions.
