It's not really that consistent here though... During the Dale era was probably the most consistent our talent ever was and we went to two final fours his entire time here. John Brady seriously had one really good team in 11 years (and imo that team should have won the title that year, or at least made the championship).

Comparing LSU and Syracuse in basketball is still silly

So, win=fluke, loss=team is terrible, correct?

Yea, fair enough. Still 2 out of 11 (well 10.5 actually) is not exactly the best track record.

How the hell Brady couldn't win with the Thorntons (Q and M), Randolph, Temple, and Chris Johnson still baffles me, that's not a great team, but they had a lot more talent than they showed that season.

No its not. You cant get people interested if you only have 1 good team every 4 or 5 years.

But how does that explain the majority of fans not caring that we suck? Apathy means no feelings of emotion one way or another; being indifferent. Yea, the few diehards care, but most fans aren't really bothered by the fact that basketball isn't competitive. Why?

I think having a team full of 5'9 guards is killing us. They are good players but can you expect Stringer to guard 6'3 or taller shooting guards? The lack of height and strength show and that is why Brady didn't recruit Twetty Carter. I think Brady said he wasn't recruiting another guard under 6 foot.

im tired of losing and seeing the same shite cost us games. Tonight and most nights we have lost its silly turnovers, horrid shot selection that causes 5 minute plus droughts, shitty rebounding and just bad coaching.

state has a handicap player in sidney that refuses to move his fat arse with purpose and we dont even try to really attack that. we made him pay on misses but the lack of running the o through ham tonight is down right wrong by tj.

Short memory I see. Let's not forget the 04 squad when lloreda mysteriously leaves the team. That was a sweet 16 season. The following year we went 12-4 and got upset by uab. That makes 4. And the team with Thornton and temple and johnson. Sure there was talent but Mitchell was lost for the year and Johnson missed several games with a broken hand. Mitchell doesn't get hurt that year, Brady is still coaching.

Eta: forgot about the 03 team with Dupree. Very solid squad.

Just because TJ is struggling, doesn't mean Brady was some great coach.

I don't recall stating that. Where did you see that? I'm calling out idiotic posts with facts.

LSU basketball has struggled for awhile mainly because big time players don't want to come play in what is easily one of the worst environments among power conference teams.

Why is that the case? Well the losing a lot more than winning starting with the Lester Earl fiasco but also college basketball is #3 around here. With the costs associated with going to football games skyrocketing to Pluto over the last 10 years and the continued relevance of baseball on this campus past the Bertman era, the fan base has been stretched to the max.

It would take an elite, top 5 in the country, basketball coach to come in here and do it right in order to turn it around and it will take a lot of time. Hell in 2006 we had a GREAT team and the place still didn't sell out.

I'm still butt-hurt that we didn't replace Brady with Anthony Davis or Brad Stevens.

I'll give you is 04, that was a good squad, 03 went 8-8 in league play hardly a good squad (talent sure, good not so much). And we didn't go to the Sweet 16 in 04 (unless you are saying that they would/should have gone to the sweet 16 with Lloreda).

The 12-4 year was decent.

I do think a lot of people (not you specifically) look at Brady's records and say "wow he actually racked up the wins at LSU" which is true, but it's skewed because a lot of the wins came against mediocre in-state teams (from what I remember without actually looking at every single schedule under Brady we basically took an in-state tour every season with random good games thrown in).

Look, I'm not saying that Brady was the worst coach in the world, but his results weren't great for the majority of his time year, and he was very inconsistent.

I laugh when people say LSU fans wont support basketball.

Give em something to be excited about on a consistent basis and they'll show up.

We need a showman like Daddy Dale and more importantly a great staff a la Tolis, Abernathy and Huckabee.

Trent Johnson and that god awful staff just aint cuttin it X's and O's or recruiting wise. You can rebuild a basketball program fairly quicky through recruiting, but this program is still struggling four years in.

Unless an unforeseen miracle occurs, the handwriting is on the wall. Fans have had just about enough. The only question is how long will Alleva allow TJ to continue squeezing blood out of the turnip.

Agree he was inconsistent but so many casual fans love to trash him. He did a lot of good here. Hell most of the sec didn't accomplish what he did. Several big heads like Donovan and vitale were dumbfounded when brady got canned.

Maybe this years team can eek out a few more wins.

Keep in contact with Bruce Pearl. You can argue if he deserves another chance or not, but there's no question that the dome would be packed.

So, it's very possible. Got to get the right person. If Gonzaga and Baylor can do it (compete), so can we.

I trash him not because of records or stats, but because of his demeanor, he was a hot head and an idiot, he cost us more than one game with that temper. The most memorably bad moment for me was I think against MSU one year, he so disagreed with a call that he ran out to UNDER THE BASKET to yell at the official, needless to say he got 2 T's and was tossed. Oh and the call wasn't even that bad.

You mean Anthony Grant?

...Stevens? He wasn't a household name when Brady was fired.

Hell yeah. We need a coach that plays up tempo offense. Dale Brown, Brady, and now Trent all are defensive coaches.
