Anyone else respect both Miles AND Saban?

I don't understand why the two have become mutually exclusive. I respect both Miles and Saban as two of the Top 5 coaches in the country. I don't want Alabama to win anything, but I still respect Saban as a coach. I find it peculiar that every pro-Miles thread seems to come from anti-Saban guys, and vice versa. They have vastly different approaches, but obviously they have both found ways to be extremely successful in their profession.

I respect both as men and agree Saban is easily one of the five best coaches in college football. I wouldn't rank Les that high though.

Saban is the best coach in the nation currently. Miles isn't too far behind.

Just curious as to why.

Exactly.
The question of whether Saban is a better coach is actually debatable to me. Clearly the Alabama brand makes recruiting nationally easier. Saban's resume' at LSU looked a lot like Miles' does. He recruited similarly as well.
You can't ever take away from what Saban built here though. Miles didn't really have to build anything.
At Alabama, Saban can recruit nationally more easily than here. He's hauling in #1 class after another.
Could Miles have done the same thing at Bama? I think it's possible. The one thing I'd give Saban is that his control, anger, etc. probably allows him to better succeed in the Bama fan/media environment that most coaches would be able to do.

Those who don't think they're both great coaches are quite stupid, IMHO.

I do. They are different people but both have done a lot in the profession and a great deal for LSU. I hate that Saban works at Alabama but have long since dealt with the frustration over that.

Respect for both, two the the best in the game

i think it's easy to see it that way but it does because the anti miles crowd always compares miles to saban. so it is natural for the pro miles crowd to fight back using sabans defieciencies (sp), esp at LSU. howver, i HATE SABANS GUTS NOW THAT HE'S AT BAMA. i am a fan of LSU, not a gump. therefore, saban is my enemy. pretty simple.

So where would you rank a coach that wins 81% of his games?

You have to. Saban is a great coach. No debating that. Les is a good coach and a wonderful human. You have to respect what they both do. They just do it differently

We have been this before- that is a subjective statement based on your own perspective of what makes a great coach
Is it win at any cost? Check with Auburn
