Major money in Vegas being bet on UF making the line get bigger and bigger.

And the more money that is bet on Florida, the bigger the spread will be.

It's called gambling. You're absolutely right. The gamble part is that the odds (of covering the spread) are increased as the spread grows more and more.

The part that people get confused is they seem to think the actual winner of the game odds are growing. Not necessarily true. If you bet on LSU and the Tigers lose 21-24, you win in Vegas. Doesn't mean that somebody got some secret info that we all don't know about.

They watched our secondary get lit up by possibly the two worst QB's in SEC history.

Not at all. In fact, I was going to bet the Tigers even if it were LSU -1. Now that I have another touchdown to work with, I might double my bet.

The Florida O-line will be no match for our D-line. Plus, we will be able to run effectively on Florida therefore limiting the amount of times we need to take a chance passing the ball. Tigers win out right.

I wish it were a 36 point line. Then I'd find a sucker UF fan and take all his $$$.

You would understand more if you knew more about gambling on games.

Very true.

People could learn a lot if they read into the line more.

Yup. Vegas doesn't care who wins or loses the gane. They don't even care about what the spread is. They move the line to get an equal amount of people betting on both sides. It's that simple.

So if a ton of people take Florida at -6 and nobody takes LSU at +6, they move the line up to 6.5 or 7.

In other words Vegas doesn't think LSU will lose by 6. People gambling think LSU will lose by 6.

Yeah, I'm "concerned" that people taking Florida to cover that spread are going to lose their shirts this Saturday night.

What position does he play? Seriously, the game opened around 3, which is about right, given that a team like UF will get approx 6 points for home field, and these are two comparable teams. The bump to 6 obviously just means that folks don't think UF can lose two home games in a row. And they might be right. But 6 is WAY too many points. Take 'em.

Love when people say the line is meaningless. Well let me remind everyone, Vegas doesn't build those big hotels by giving away money.

Florida at best should be a 3 point favorite but 6 points suggest a Florida cover which means a big Florida victory. The line makes me very nervous.

The line will have no bearing on the game. The line is an opinion by Vegas et al of where they think money will go, in hopes of getting 50/50 on each side. It will only affect those who bet the game.

Unless the six pt. line means the game is fixed, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the game.
