Does anybody think LSU tries some trickery that we have not seen, goes for it on 4th and short on Bamas side the field, Canada breaks out some plays we have not seen on offense, Aranda stacks the box forcing Bama to pass and trust his DB's in man coverage, blitz the hell out of bama again trusting your DB's in man.

I hope to see something different and myself if LSU makes risky decisions and comes up short I will be happy we tried something different. I think LSU has some different stuff up their sleeve but this bama team is on a different level. This seems to be the less likely team we have had in the past few years to beat Bama but watch this be the year we go out and get the upset.

Trickery ? I hope not. Aggressive, different ? I hope so.
I could see a fake punt/field goal at some point. I don't think we have attempted a fake under O yet.

I don't think we ever will see a fake under him.

He doesn't have the equity to pull that off and have it fail.

Our punter was a former Minor League pitcher, so he has an arm on him. This opens up a lot of options for fakes.

Can't win with being conservative in this game. I'd rather lose by 40 and try something that might work than to be hard headed and try to run up the middle against a stacked D line.

I agree, as long as we are fighting and not playing conservative.
Play to win .. not to "not lose"

We really need to get Etling going to have a shot. That 2.0 second release - if DE even gets that - will be critical.

I hate to say it because this is what helped Les out the door. I think he keeps it tight on the cuff and doesn't take too many chances.

It'd be awesome to see it come down to beating them with our new found kicking game hehehe.

Pretty much be a microcosm of the season to this point

Of course he'll be conservative.

One of his "mistakes" that he says he learned from is going for it on fourth and short vs MSU in '07. He thinks that's what cost him his job.

He's not going to make any decisions that he can't pin on someone else.

I do not see him taking chances as long as the game is close ( no need),
but if opportunities / situations are right .. go for it.

Would it be better to have Etling roll out much more than before to buy a little more time to throw?

O knows how to be an underdog. He came in here with a Shitty ole piss team and almost beat Jamarcus. Not quite the same but Underdog is something he knows better than favorite

The Bama game last year was BY FAR O's most conservative gameplan.

There is a reason he thought that was the way to win (its not)...so i would be surprised if he goes all balls out tomorrow.

I think he'd be happy not to get blown out, and will coach like it.

Really the only way for a team in our position to beat Bama is to empty the clip, throw the kitchen sink at them.

In the process of doing that, you may very well hasten your demise, but you may also knock the other guy out.

But I don't think that'll happen. I think he'll be content to not suffer a humiliating defeat because people will give him credit for losing close even if he doesn't take chances. I'd be more encouraged of a 40-17 type of effort where we took some chances that just didn't work out over a 10-0 effort where we just tried not to lose the game.
