Interesting point. Maybe he plays off that goofy good ole boy persona.

Exactly. I think he just does it to frick with people.

No coach ever gives any actual answers to the questions they're asked, Miles just does it with a cadence that would make Yoda proud.

I had a want to meet with him and I secured that want. I had the chest for it so everything went well. He seemed like a real quality guy to me. Didn't seem to be anything crazy under the hat.

What are these strange mannerisms and milesism you speek of??

I met him at the Lsu stir in campus a few yrs ago, they were buying Lsu stuff after the baseball championship - very approachable and down to earth.

I won a charity lunch with him and a few other people 2 years ago and he's a great conversationalist like someone said earlier, but damn is he goofy. our conversation went from team preparation to the "specialist" he brought in to help the team adjust to the time zone when we played at Washington a few years back. it's very easy to see why his players go to war for him

All the players and staff know him (the specialist) as "sleep doc". He's been working with the team since that season to better utilize one of the most important and most ignored and misunderstood components of athletic performance.

He was on AFR right before the A&M game this past season for those curious to know more.

He's a former LSU athlete himself, a medical wizard, and an asset to the team(s) he works with...

...and I'm not just saying that cuz I'm related to him either ;)

I spent about 30 minutes with him when I brought my family down to BTR a few years ago. He invited all of us into his office and we just chatted and got to know each other. We both grew up in Ohio and share that common bond. Les is extremely down to earth, but there is a fire inside for sure...

I talked to him at the Baton Rouge Country Club. He does not talk like he does on air. Very normal, nice dude. I think he might get a little nervous on camera.

Shakes hands like a man though. Won't forget that ever. Goddamn death gripped me.

Les is not an idiot by any means, he speaks like that as a tribute to his mentor/coach/role model Bo schembechler. Les philosophy is based off of bo's...from the way he talks to the run first offense, and team comes first, it's all old school bo. Don't believe me then look up bo.schembechlers "the team speech" on YouTube and watch it with your eyes closed.
