I don't understand it at all

Does he want money or just csb?

quote:

Dear Friends,

It’s not even noon, and already this has been one of the most special days I’ve had in my time at LSU.

Today, I stood on hallowed ground - the very spot where we began, LSU’s original campus in Pineville, La. It was honestly even more moving than I’d anticipated. When I was selected as President, I started reading Professor Paul Hoffman’s history of LSU. It was really quiteinspiring to learn about the work that went into making our university a reality.

If you didn’t know the history held in this little plot of earth, you’d walk right by it. In its current state, it’s non-descript, barren, and bare. And that drives home a very real message: physical structure are fleeting. Humans are mortal. But knowledge? Knowledge is eternal in its impact.

While there, we felt it fitting to stand in the place where we began and evaluate our present and simultaneously look toward the future. So, we took the opportunity to announce LSU’s economic impact on Louisiana.

LSU’s eight campuses contribute and impact of $6.1 billion for our state. That’s a return of $13.85 for every $1 the state invests in us. I

Broken down by campus, that’s:

• LSU’s Flagship Campus | $2.7 billion

• LSU of Alexandria | $109 million

• LSU-Eunice | $72 million

• LSU-Shreveport | $174 million

• LSU Pennington Biomedical Research Center | $137 million

• LSU AgCenter | $282 million

• LSU Health New Orleans | $1.6 billion

• LSU Health Shreveport | $1.03 billion

While these numbers are impressive,  they’re just a tiny piece of the story generated using hard data like earnings, research grants and contracts, direct and indirect job creation, and student spending, among others. What’s much harder to measure is our true worth. What’s our rich output of literature, art, music, and film do for the state and for our society? How many people do we keep from leaving the state? How much longevity do we add to our citizenry through medical education and access to clinical trials?

It’s something my team and I discussed during our morning briefing, and something I’d love to hear from you — our constituents — about in greater detail. How has LSU impacted your life and the lives of your family? What does this university mean to you?

Thank you for your support and engagement, and stay tuned — we’re just getting started.

Best,

William F. Tate IV
LSU President

This is bad as when then had poor students asking about my time at LSU before hitting me up for money

Just get to the point you want money

Did he think about Uncle Billy Sherman?

Hopefully he and Brian Kelly are inspired to burn Atlanta down next year

Please tell me that somehow you didn't copy and paste this verbatim and that the head of a supposedly major academic institution didn't send out something without having a proper proof reading system beyond the little red line for autocorrect in whatever software he is using.

He's not asking for money. He's sharing a quick history lesson...where we started from, and how we are doing. And asking a legit question.

From my point of view, he's been doing a great job so far. It'll be interesting to see if he can sustain the early successes of his vision of pushing us forward on the academic side. Hope we can keep him longer than the few in my time directly involved with the university.
