Do all players really need fall camp?
Rashard Robertson came in and played without camp.

Took him a few weeks to get up to speed but I also think he is very special. We also had the 2 Jalen's back and most people did not see Tre White and RR passing both of them up.
Valentine may be needed and he needs camp for the coaches to know if he is ready. Just my 2 cents.

Robinson is a future first round NFL draft pick and an exception. I doubt he's ready to start playing right away as well

CBs are different, they can play their first year in the college, mostly because you can be naturally talented and defend receivers.

How many true freshman DTs do you see? Compare that to how many true freshman CBs we've played in the past 4 years

this.

the men in the trenches require a lot of qork on technique and need to add a lot of size. That's why they hardly ever play their first year.

To add to that, we put Rashard in a good place to succeed. He already excelled at man coverage and I believe that's mainly what we asked of him. With his length and quickness he could make up for getting beat at the line, though I only really remember that being an issue with Evans a couple times. And we all know how Evans beats people coming off the line.

It's a strong possibility that Valentine accepts a r/s year since it was not likely for him to be amongst the 2-deep this year, even without QT. Probably around 75% that he redshirts.

If Valentine or any true freshman ever helps LSU at the DT spot, consider it a bonus. Both DL and OL have this in common.
DB's WR's RB's can play if talented. Other positions are in the middle. Brockers, Logan, Ego,etc all got a red shirts.

Let's play Occam's Razor. Which is more likely?

An 18 year old kid 345 lbs:

A. He's probably a little fat or

B. He's been Moffitized in a high school conditioning program.

he doesn't LOOK like he's "fat" from the last pictures i've seen of him. he's just a really large human being.
