Has anyone on here driven to CWS from South Louisiana?

Tips?

I drove from Bossier City, I know it's not South Louisiana but I did it in one day. I left around 5am and got there around 7pm. Took 49 until Texarkana and it turns into Hwy 71 going through the Ozarks until you get to Fort Smith then it's interstate the rest of the way. Went through Arkansas, Missouri, stopped in KC for some BBQ,Iowa then crossed over the Missouri River from Council Bluffs Iowa to Omaha.
Driving through Arkansas can be rough since some of it is 2 lanes through the Ozarks, if you get behind a semi, you might be there a while since it's hard to pass. The rest of the drive is interstate but is boring, nothing to look at just like driving from Lafayette to Shreveport.

Here's a tip, don't do it in a 1974 Troopy HJ45. Went to Omaha with my buddy in his. 18 hr drive at 65 mph. Drove up for the Florida championship series. Drove it straight thru there and back. 72 hr trip that included 36 hrs of driving. No hotel room since we slept in the back of the troopy the only night we were in Omaha. Cheap trip!

I took my boys on a spur of the moment CWS trip. Left after LSU won their 1st game agianst Fullerton in 2015 with no hotel room pre booked and no tickets. Found a room 2 miles from the stadium for $125 a night and got reserved tickets to watch them play TCU

And your boys will never forget that trip with their dad.

Went in 2015 and 2017. Drove both times from BR. In 2015, stopped in southern Missouri to stay with a friend and his family. In 2017, stopped in Kansas City to stay the night. The drive is brutal but I knew I was staying from the first day until LSU was eliminated and I knew trying to book a flight home on such short notice would be a pain in the arse and probably very expensive.

I will say this though that there is a ton of down time after the first 4 days. Once it’s down to 6 teams, there is only one game on the 5th and 6th day and potential no games on the 8th day if both 2-0 teams beats the 2-1 team. The first four days are incredible with all 8 teams and their fans, plus all the locals who come in town, not to mention there are 2 games each day for the first 4 days.

Or you can wait to see if LSU wins their first two games, then head to Omaha since it would mean LSU has to lose twice to NOT advance to the championship series.

If you go up the first day and LSU wins their first two games, they won’t play for 3-4 days which sucks big time having to kill so much time.
