Both were studs in HS and have a knack for making big plays. They can't be any worse at reading and reacting than the current LB's. Don't waste their talent like the former staff did with Kwon and Debo.

I agree the current Mike is not good. We need guys that can flow and have vision. It’s not rocket science.

why would coaches play guys that aren't as good as their back ups?

I don't think our issues at LB are directly related to poor execution. There have been some poor angles and missed tackles for sure, but lots of times they just look lost and a step slow. I think the entire defense just isn't sure what they're doing so they look slow. And when they make the wrong decision is when you see the busts.

If we actually solve our communications issues we might finally see these guys "flying around making plays". Until then, anyone we put on the field will most likely look slow and confused.

Don't know why Devonta Lee isn't getting PT. Waste of talent.

Maybe he isn't ready to play LB or better than the guys currently playing. Same with Sampah. Just because a kid is in the team doesn't mean he's ready to play. Lee's switching positions and Sampah is coming from HS.

..and not run themselves out of a zone like Clark did on one of those Mizzou TDs.

Yeah, another one of those where guys weren't on the same page. Stevens went out to the flat, Clark followed the TE across the field. Most likely was a cover 3 where Stevens has the flat and clark needs to pass off the TE and come back to the RB.

These are simple things that are most likely not being communicated or installed correctly.

i've been surprised that we haven't seen Devonta Lee yet at LB for a few more plays to see what he could do in live action.

Clark was standing next to Cox when Mizzou threw behind him to the wide open seam route.

Exactly, I have to think that Clark thought he was in man, or he thought that Cox was blitzing. Either way it was not communicated or executed. That has happened many times. 2 guys on one receiver and no one on another. Similar to the bust between ricks and harris

All the young guys need to play. Not start necessarily but if we can't play well with Vets, at least let the young guys get experience.

Josh White, Sampah, Lee, Phillip Webb

because all HC's have super egos and don't want to be proven wrong. They will go down with the ship before making a simple change such as player personnel or play calling. I'm not asking for Lee or Sampah to start. Get them some PT and learn valuable experience since this is a free year of eligibility

Just watched the play again.

The QB never looked to the left/middle of the field. He was looking to right the entire time waiting for the circle route to turn towards the middle of the field.

I bet Mizzou coaches watched Clark do this on prior plays when we tried to run zone, leaving the middle wide open, and they exploited it.

Or maybe they see the guys practice every day and know a little bit more about their strengths and weaknesses than the average fan

And Lee's hands are as good as anyone on the O or the D. He could be an asset in passing situations. The guy catches everything that comes near him.

Lee has more physical talent, but is struggling learning the defense moreso than the guys ahead of him. I believe he will get his shot soon.
